This thread is usually a pretty good and informative read. Other times, like tonight, it just seems like many people here need to take a Prozac and get a grip. I'm struggling to think of a single time when Dipshit has been able to coast on 'good' coverage for more than maybe a day or two before something inevitably happened that made his good press coverage vanish. He's coming from a major loss with the shutdown, and if the analysis of an emergency declaration is accurate, that's not going to magically make the wall get built. People need to relax.

Watching a bunch of sycophants play politics as usual while a guy whose brain is dripping out his ears plays president is depressing as gently caress and having to come in here and be called dumb by people who think that's just how things have to be is frustrating as hell. I want people in Congress who will fight for me so that I don't have to go on kidney dialysis within the next five years, not play the same loving games of grab rear end that have resulted in an overall slide to the right for the past 40 or 50 years.

This thread always goes to hell on "big" political nights. Its when the biggest, most worked up people gather together to get worked up by the most empty of rhetoric and most superficial of red meat. Its all the SOTU is. A giant showcase for the President to rally his base. In theory he's reaching out to the rest but in reality everyone who hates him is just there to be riled up. Sane people don't watch the SOTU.

I know everyone is onboard with AOC and the other freshman Rep ladies who are kicking rear end up and down DC but is anyone else pleasantly surprised by how good Ro Khanna has been? He's been an exceptionally pro Twitter follow and his messaging is extremely on point. I think the only thing I knew of him is that he was extremely Silicon Valley which makes his messaging and sponsored bills that much more exciting/surprising. Definitely also someone to watch.

It's like just....parliamentary poo poo.From the sounds of the news and more direct analysis the speech was rather unremarkable by Trump standards.
