He's fake as poo poo.

Like, very few veterans are out and proud like that, those that are often left the service under bad circumstances. Nearly all special forces aside from a select few like to openly talk about their service for multiple reasons.

Airsoft and tactics advice just seals the bullshit.

idk just seems every “omg stolen valor” scenario involves someone with a clear developmental delay/mental issue. It’s like, why engage them. Then you get some chodes cornering some cosplaying 20-year-old in wal-mart wearing fatigues who can barely formulate a sentence, about what his unit patches mean

Yeah. Some actual CSM/Officer faking awards for prestige is bullshit.

But some weird kid with mental health issues getting totally owned by the uniform regulation police in public is painful to watch.

I know of one ex-Green Beret who is basically verified, has a bunch of stuff from his time in service. He really doesn't like talking about it at all, and avoids talking about his time in. But yeah, Seals don't seem to talk about their service at all, unless they are complete dicks like a few famous examples.

Yeah, I think the whole phenomenon of shaming these dudes is ridiculous and kind of gross - it seems a weird thing to be so protective over, then again I didn't serve. The guy I posted, I'm more concerned about how aggressive and threatening he's acting on public transit - and from some friends' accounts, he's done much worse, suggesting 'how easy it would be' or outright telling people he's going to shoot them. He's clearly messed-up and I feel for that, but it's not an excuse for his behaviour.

Most guys keep their ribbons on their blues uniform at all times, even in the closet.

But seeing as he's a general, he probably has his uniform cleaned often enough to have to remove them often.

Speaking of stolen valor, this happened on my local bus route here in Toronto. I didn't shoot this video or have anything to do with the situation, but I have met this guy and he always struck me as full of poo poo. He hangs around local music venues in fatigues with questionable rank insignia and dumbass moto patches, and talks a whole bunch of trash. He spotted my 5.11 boots or backpack or something once and went on a tirade of unsolicited 'tactical advice' that even I as a civilian knew was bullshit but I played along because he's clearly unhinged and I've seen him get aggressive and threatening before. He's told friends of mine wildly different 'career stories' including being in Delta Force, or "a Private in JTF2," lol. His FB profile is littered with vanity poses with airsoft guns and CoD 'ghost' masks.

Anyway I figured you guys would get a kick out of this. I'm already 99% sure he's a phony, but at the end of this video he states his 'military ID' and I don't know enough to know if that sounds fake. Thoughts?

Calling your service number a member id strikes me as odd. But from what I could tell it had the right amount of numbers and letters. Service numbers go “A11 111 111”.

My money is on pog who got fed up with “Oh wow! You were in the army?? What’d you do?” “Admin clerk/cook/etc” “oh...” and lied about being infantry and got some good reactions and the lie snowballed. I know of at least one person this happened to.

Out of morbid curiosity, do you know the ranks he was wearing?

I used to work with a guy that did more or less the same thing, but with a mosin nagant. He could talk for 3 hours straight about guns and ordinance without taking a break or a pause (I timed him). He also said without shame (or, to his credit, bragging) that he got a 7 on the asvab.

I really doubt it. He probably had to take it a second (or third) time before he got in. It was during the surge if I remember right, when they were taking everything with a pulse and a couple things without. He didn't make it through basic, for what it's worth.

My brother nailed it out of the park with a 19 on his first attempt. Clocked back around with a 35ish on the second attempt, collected a waiver because it was pre-Iraq war by about six months when he signed papers and the bullshit wmd sheets were being shook out by Bush & Co. He wound up in commo.

Being dumb is waiverable, just can't be so dumb that you can't hit double digits. The waiverable amount probably changes with the need for people.

I saw a guy who made it to BUD/S with an ASVAB waiver, he was only in the low 30’s.

No idea how he swung that, the average ASVAB in candidates is like at least 75.

Is that not something they associate with strong GT scores? I remember those being a big deal of it. Something like 110 minimum, which means lots of people would have to retest after already being in service.

I wonder how many people come out of those with lower scores than when they went in.

My roommate in tech school was legit mentally retarded to some degree. That's not hyperbole. What he needed most in life was to be in a group home, but Iraq Surge yadda yadda yadda. Even he got 30s on his ASVAB, and a low 70s score in electronics that had to have been by accident.
