You're allowed to enjoy what Clarkson, Hammond, and May do while still wanting them to do better. The repetitiveness is getting too much for me though, I'm naively hoping they change things up once they ditch the tent. But people have been complaining about the repetitiveness and the crudeness of the jokes and the immaturity since literally fifteen years ago. Every season of Top Gear, and every season of The Grand Tour, and guess what, I don't think they're going to change their formula. If I am at all tired of the same old jokes on The Grand Tour, then I am doubly tired of everybody trying to turn it into something it isn't, like Fifth Gear. Anyway, latest episode is good. Is that the same Ford Ranger we (ie Murica) are going to be getting, or are we getting a new generation Ranger?

The tiny Hammond statue legit got me. I cracked up when they revealed how small it was.

Yeah mostly the same. quote:The American Ranger is derived from the Ford T6 global midsize truck architecture designed by Ford of Australia. While already designed to accommodate left-hand drive use, the T6 chassis underwent further modifications for use in North America. To better accommodate American crash standards and increase its payload, the frame was revised to include fully boxed frame rails.[4] All versions of the Ranger sold in North America have a 127-inch wheelbase, regardless of cab or drivetrain configuration

No, they absolutely did not use live ammo. It was blanks and then small explosive charges (for the .50) or added in post for the AK bullets. Once I noticed it tbh really took me out of the segment.

I used to be a bit of a Top Gear apologist. Any time someone would complain about the dumb scripted goofing around poo poo episodes I'd be like "well its still more entertaining than 99% of everything else on TV" After how good Grand Tour has become I was disheartened to see it descend back into Top Gear / GT Season 1 bullshit. The only good parts of that episode were with the Jag. *edit* apparently this has been argued quite a bit over the last page and a half, carry on Basticle fucked around with this message at 16:43 on Feb 2, 2019 |

Would you give James May live ammo while he's bouncing around in the back of a pickup with an AK? It was a reasonably entertaining episode but I wish they'd made some effort to make the fuel "race" seem like an actual race instead of just random shots of them driving around offroad. The statue gag got a chuckle from me though, obvious as it was.

Here is my test for if TG/GT is good or not: - get blazed - watch show - if I giggle like a retard at the dick and fart jokes and ogle the beautiful shots of cool cars, it’s good - if I lose interest and watch YouTube instead it sucks That’s proven to be a pretty good test for the last 20 seasons or so of TG and so far it’s indicated about 80% success rate of the new show. Also it’s only one sketch but as far as new stuff I really liked the sketch with the helicopters and gun fighting in the first season where everybody kept dying and resetting. It was really weird and very different while being funny and entertaining to watch.

i own every Bionicle posted:- if I lose interest and watch YouTube instead it sucks Sometimes I set myself up for failure ahead of time. Like the two Colombia episodes I assumed would have a lot of amazing shots and no tent poo poo and I would enjoy them more, so I pulled them up on my tv. This last episode I figured eh we're back to normal I'll just watch it on a web browser taking up half my screen while I chat with people. Did I end up distracted by web pages and Spider Solitaire because the episode started right out of the gate lovely or because I wasn't giving it a fair chance in a small window? I don't know for sure but at least the Jaguar segment made me pay attention. If every episode of every show I watched was so good it demanded 100% of my attention I'd either never get anything done or I'd have to give up most of the shows I watch.

I'm enjoying the season, but the forced "ha ha THE GAYS" jokes and Clarkson (the character) making GBS threads on the attempts for one of the saddest, most depressing cities in the first world to become something brighter irks the gently caress out of me. It reminds me of my dad when he thinks he's being funny, but he's just pissing off everyone in the room.

Well, what can you expect from a concept that is completely drained of new ideas? They are too big to ever go back to the pseudo-real "non-scripted" stuff of old Top Gear (not the later seasons) where you could believe that they were 3 friends messing about making a mess of reviews and road trips. Instead we are left with the big bucks fake poo poo that isn't fun anymore.

Are cheap car challenges one of the things they aren't allowed to do on GT? I guess Colombia was kind of one, used cars at least, but I'd love another real set of wrecks like the 100 pound challenge or the BL challenge.

the stupid barrel rolling into a chopper with pre-located fuel pyrotechnics and the shooting blanks with little buried explosives to kick up dirt kind of pissed me off. The best episode of top gear IMO was when they took the old lovely British cars driving around Britain to all the shut down factories and it was funny when their clutch wouldn't give them enough power to do a hill start or their handbrake wouldn't hold them in place asnd the most dramatic thing that happened was a car superficially brushing against a signpost... I don't understand people that need things to be big for entertainment.

Clarkson doesn't know what he's on about, that Kalashnikov looks great. Good episode. It's nice when they get away from the juvenile humor for a bit, and they always come across as genuinely interested and passionate in these historical pieces.

The kalashnikov is a (badly) modded IZh-2125, so I’m not sure they can put it into production with the base car being discontinued more than two decades ago.
