My bet, they went to a tankless heater and found a way to move the washer/dryer out of the kitchen.

Even if my bathtub were full to the brim my 6'1" self couldn't be submerged to a level that'd make for a really comfortable soak. The standard 60" size just doesn't leave enough room unless it's unusually deep.
