As Nero Danced posted:Will Smith Genie reminds me of the CGI Rock in Mummy 2. Yea they hosed up by choosing to give him literally just Will Smith's face. They needed to trust that people would know Will Smith's voice and be able to enjoy his talents without seeing the face, aka what they did with Robin Williams and every other animated character for decades. There's also the possibility that Smith exercised some sort of creative control over the design, but I'm not sure I buy that considering this is Disney we're talking about.

I think maybe you shouldn't have a beloved character suddenly, angrily swing a sword into the viewer's POV to end your Frozen 2 trailer. I bet I'd be a pretty traumatized four year old superfan.

Frozen 2 trailer had some gorgeous shots. That hyper-realistic ocean really makes those cartoony characters look ridiculous, though.

Imagine the outrage if they removed a famous black actor's face from the movie where everyone else has their own face and voice? I think genie looks extremely weird because its a fat topless Will Smith playing the character from all his movies: cool guy Will Smith from the 90ies. I would argue the casting choice for Jafar is even more strange. Creepy old man Jafar lusting for a young princess worked very well in the cartoon and clearly set him up as a bad guy. I don't know how well soyboy beta orbiter Jafar will work to be honest, though having him get cucked by Aladdin might go over well with today's audiences...

The Good Dinosaur has convinced me it's a workable formula. I know The Good Dinosaur had some major production issues, but upon lots of rewatches (what's up dads of 4 year olds!) it's actually gaining traction as one of my favorites. It's just so much more chill than all the others.

This is one of those cases where it's important to read the whole post for context. Obviously it's not too much for anyone capable of posting on this forum, but it's more borderline when we're talking about literal preschoolers, and that's a VERY LARGE chunk of the audience for Frozen poo poo.

Yeah, a friend of mine said, "For a teaser designed to get kids excited for a Frozen sequel, there's a surprisingly small amount of Olaf." And my thing is, kids are going to be excited for a Frozen sequel no matter what. My thinking is that this teaser was for the parents of those kids to see this and say, "...alright, I might enjoy it, too." And in the case of this parent, it worked.

Part of me was thinking back to Frozen 1 and then the trailer really confused at how poo poo apparently got this dire that's Anna's swinging swords and Elsa is trying to run on water. I mean, I'm a Disney\Animation nerd at heart but I'm interested regardless. I'd honestly really rather Disney try this kind of thing than the live action remakes cause Aladdin looks kinda bad.

Mr. Squishy posted:It's been a long while since I've watched it but I thought the concensus was that the previous Catch 22 film was not great, so going back to the well and making a good film from the book would be tempting. Also, America is still in a fair number of forever wars it's getting sick of, so there's that market. The Mike Nichols one? No, dude, it owns. The cast alone is gobsmacking. I mean, it didn't fare well at the time but that has more to do with the Vietnam War and the success of MASH. I think the general public only has so much of an appetite for satire when times are dark as hell There's no way in hell George Clooney, of all people, is going to translate the material better. morestuff posted:People hated that 30-minutes Olaf short so much they're probably shying away from him It was awful
