IM STILL SPENDING MONEY FROM 1888

Part of a vital urban core is having things within walking distance that people will actually want to go to- since I was there for a concert I couldn't stray too far from the arena- I would have loved to have gone to one of the Canada Masterchef guys' restaurants at the very least- but not knowing the city I'm not stranding myself.

Look at how horizontal the city is and how far you have to go to go anywhere worth going- that's loving LA, not NYC. That was the other thing- the city charges New York Prices when all it is is Canada's Tyson's Corner. The airport is also garbage for international connections- hard pass.

we monitor many frequencies. we listen always. came a voice, out of the babel of tongues, speaking to us. it played us a mighty dub.
just so we're all on the same page here

green is the commonly accepted border of "downtown toronto", everything in that area is walkable in under an hour unless you have serious mobility issues. on transit the time between the two furthest points on the map is still 15 minutes at most.

red is where the op stayed. there are several hundred restaurants in the green area alone

yeah, on that front there's not so many places you could have gone that wouldn't have been bullshit. all the stuff in the older parts of the city ends up cramming the bathrooms in the basement due to space constraints. if you have trouble with stairs you may as well not leave the house.

the fact that we hosted the para-panam games here was frankly a bit of a joke.

Toronto is a comfortable city to live in (or was before the rent went from "too high" to "loving insane") but I can't really imagine what I'd make of it if I were visiting and didn't know the city well already. Also even compared to Ottawa or Montreal there's really no reason to come to Toronto in February.

Our landlady sold our place last spring, and we had to move out to Whitby. What we paid in rent for a one bedroom in Toronto in 2013 is now what you pay for a one bedroom near the GO station in loving Pickering.

And with the TTC constantly on fire, the commute from here isn't that much longer.

Toronto's a silly place.
