Bill Simmons is a gigantic weirdo, episode 48,203quote:Simmons: LeBron, I wrote this down for you, I thought he spent all-star weekend acting like a divorced cougar at a wedding hitting on everyone else’s husband. What do you think of that? Lebron hung out with friends and colleagues!!?!?! WHAT DOES IT MEAN?????? DJExile fucked around with this message at 19:22 on Feb 18, 2019 |

There was some race car event in the 70's or 80's where some poor worker was on the track and literally got split in half. One of the most hosed up things I've seen.

NBA ratings are down, especially on the national gamesquote:TNT broadcasts are now down 18 percent year-over-year on average, and NBA TV ones are down 17 percent. However, the ABC and ESPN broadcasts are holding up better; ABC’s down only three percent, and ESPN’s ratings are flat. But still, on average, the NBA is seeing a significant ratings decline on both regional and national fronts. The streaming caveat Payne mentions is a notable one, though, and the NBA isn’t the only place where we’re seeing TV ratings decline while streaming numbers rise.

TNT production is pretty garbage maybe that has something to do with it. They don’t even have a PBP guy many nights. Never seen anything like it.

NBA's ratings were softly high last year for a few different reasons, so this regression isn't a big surprise. Lebron taking a semi-sabbatical and the fact that NBA is going to be a canary for moving to streaming is going to accelerate the dip.

that poo poo is scary. when i was a kid in massachusetts i did the scoreboard for my brothers' hockey games. a lot of the old rinks up there have open penalty boxes and the glass for the timekeeper isn't covered on the sides. so one of my brothers' defensemen slapped the puck out on a penalty kill right at my head and it came about that close to whopping me. my dad got hit with a clear off a wrist shot coaching and it still broke a bunch of his teeth. i'm surprised more folks don't get hurt on it honestly

I feel the same about comebackers, beanballs and foul liners in baseball. The fact that only one guy's ever died from a beanball amazes me, especially with the smoke some pitchers throw.

Amazingly it's proactive, but I think Keon Broxton having one and it saving him from a concussion got a lot of people to realize it's good.

I went to a Brewers game a couple years ago when I was in Milwaukee for work. We were about 20-25 rows up right at third base. Someone cracked a foul ball at us and before I could even get my hand all the way up to protect my face I could hear it hit the back of an empty seat two rows behind us, breaking the thick plastic seat backing. The girl sitting one row behind us had the ball graze her ear, ripping a bit of skin off. If that ball was another inch or two to the left, it would've shattered that girls face. It hosed with me the whole rest of the game.

I watched a Kirby Puckett foul ball line drive hit a baby in the jaw when I was about ten. Ten-year-old me learned a lesson: Don't loving get front-row (or close to it) seats down the first base line and expect a fun family outing with your toddler.

There was a high school junior varsity player killed by an errant throw that went into the dugout a few years ago. The throw was during warm-ups between innings, making it even more freak. It didn't take long for all the high schools in these parts to add netting/chain-link fence to the dugouts.

They should dump Booger too and grab Kurt Warner as the sole color guy. He's been doing MNF on the radio and is really good at it. He was also the best part of that one NFL Network game that had like 12 people in the booth for some reason.
