boner culture is when you laugh at the joker's latest boner on twitter, and make memes about the joker turning into a corncob

In 5th grade we had a substitute teacher who was supposed to go over the skeleton with us for science class. He divided us into two teams with the plans to do a quiz show format. He asked us to pick out team names and naturally we called ourselves the Boner Brigade. He couldn’t understand why the whole class was laughing so hard and a traitor amongst us explained to him what a boner meant.

He got that face where he realized the class had steered the ship towards an iceberg and he didn’t know how to steer it back.

tonight, I'm gaming in ff14's newest dungeon, the baldesion arsensal

its a pretty loving absurd thing to put in the kind of game that it is, its like they looked at blizzard making official WoW classic servers and they were like "well we're gonna put our classic mode inside the game gently caress you". so they made eureka, an entire island that removes most of the amenities of ff14 to make it play like a game that came out 20 years ago, mobility is heavily restricted, elemental strengths and weaknesses, zones full of mobs that can one hit kill you and aggro on sight or sound so you have to sneak past them, its own leveling progression where you lose exp and can level down on death, all these archaic ideas in MMO design that were abandoned years ago. and after dozens of hours of playing this pseudo-ff11 they've built, you're finally standing on the threshold of the castle that's been looming in the distance the entire time you've been on the island, the baldesion arsenal, and inside is just a perfectly recreated everquest dungeon, full of traps and monsters that can just immediately end your run. the very final boss of the place, after two hours of crawling through this castle, has a mechanic that just teleports you outside of the dungeon if you don't do it right lmao

i'm way more into it than I probably should be

nah its pure skill, the fights themselves aren't even all that difficult mechanically and mostly crib off other stuff in the game, they're just more unforgiving. you get one chance to correctly execute and if you don't then you're dead, and there's (mostly) no bringing you back, where usually in ff14 fights are designed to allow you one or two mistakes and recover

the one random element in the whole thing is an item that you can get that if you do die, has a 70% chance of auto raising you, but at that point it becomes a chance to erase a gently caress up rather than a chance to succeed

Setting aside the harsh punishment for failure, what's the mechanical difficulty level? Somewhere between extreme primals and savage raids I'm guessing?

its goes from probably about alliance raid difficulty to EX. the final boss is just ozma + two more mechanics, an additional stance and the thing that seems to really gently caress people up, baby ozmas that require you to resolve two different ozma shapes back to back
