I haven't watch Dear White People, but given the giant slog that was JJ S2, I don't think it can be safely assumed by a reader of his statement that a good show was canceled over a bad one.

And Altered Carbon is literally about people slotting their consciousness into new bodies like clothing, and begins its first season with the protagonist changing from an Asian man to a white man, so...hard to see why he'd have a problem with that dynamic continuing if it wasn't something about the race of the protagonist's new body.

So, season will be about their falling out and diverging paths as Patsy goes sassy vigilante-to-villainess by night and Jessica cleans up her messes in secret while drinking and breaking some walk-on cameo's heart. And, since I've long since stopped caring about any of the main characters in JJ, they can have a few fight scenes that don't work out and Patsy can die in the end when uhh... let's just go with her procedure having some terminal side-effect where she loses her mind and Jessica has to euthanize Patsy as she goes on a murder spree.

This is entirely my own fault, but I remember back when Sigourney Weaver was first announced as being cast, somebody said,"Hey wouldn't it be cool if she was Mephisto?" and basically after that in my head anything else they did was going to be a letdown. Turns out the letdown they chose to go with was just making the show terrible and her character interchangeable with all the other uninteresting Hand characters (even Madam Gao got pretty poor by the end) then killing her off in favor of somebody even less interesting than that, so I guess it's a moot point.

She definitely needed to be the big bad and I don’t know why you wouldn’t have her be the big scary villain if you’re gonna shell out the money for her and kill her anyways. I’m kinda sad to see Daredevil and punisher go but man they dropped the ball on most of the seasons they produced.

Actually a sequence where she is effortlessly Neo-from-the-Matrix style rebuffing all 4 Defenders at once while slowly walking across the room explaining her evil plan would be kinda badass if they had the budget for it, thats a pretty cool idea. Honestly the logistics of "how would all 4 of you even fight the same guy at once?" is interesting

I looked up more info on it and got to this article that talks about bringing the show to life and how it works with the material while also very clearly being its own thing. I’m only halfway through it but I’m really digging it. Their music / soundtrack has been on point so far.

Curtis was even in place in the exact same way. Also LOL that level of shooting happening in the streets for that long and the NYPD not rolling up and vaporizing everyone in like one minute flat. Also would have been a lot better for all the other reasons folks already brought up (especially Madani, she needed to either have more to actually accomplish or just left after they leave her apartment til the end). I still enjoyed it overall but Frank really was all over the place this time.
