I hate Titanfall 2 entirely for the fact that everytime people talk about it I think people are talking Team Fortress 2 for a solid minute.

I saw a lot of love for assault android cactus a few years ago and finally got around to it and i cant hang. The mechanics and game feel are great. I love twin stick horde control shooters. But theres no kickin tunes and theres like a story involving nicktoon reject characters.

Booted up nex machina. Immediately the beats, the synths....oh save the last human? Beckon no more im yours again forever.

The strategy is to hit autoselect, and then maybe hit autoselect a couple more times to see other setups if you're feeling saucy.

What's a game that just hooks you in. I'm getting bored by AC Odyssey. My life is a nightmare and I need a good fantasy land I can escape into.

Skip the story and youre still left with a "fine" entry into the franchise. The post game unlockables are pleasant though, like FPS mode

Double posting to say that I've been watching My Roommate Is A Cat and it is a very cute and good anime so far though I am only 2 episodes in but I doubt it will suddenly shift and be awful or terrible over the next few episodes given how the show has been so far.

That would own super hard, but I am also fine with it being about a guy who comes out of his extremely antisocial shell and learns to deal with his emotions and grief through now owning a cat.

Netflix's The new legends of monkey has made me a believer in live action anime. It's pretty much live action dragon Ball and it gives me a lot of hope for Airbender. The Goku of the show is really good.

Played daemon x machina demo tonight. Idk i want to be hype but the game plays really sloppy. Like the movement is weird, point blank sword strikes wiff, and The boss fight is also extremely lovely with like this stupid force field pushing you out of bounds and slowing the already long fight down.

I have a feeling the main game is going to ask players to do a lot of repeating missions over again to get weapons with enough damage/ammo to make progress.

Also its really weird how after your mech dies you get to keep playing as a totally worthless pilot. You can level up to suck less but you'll never get your mech back and the upgrades dont make you anywhere near as good as the mech. Its weird.

Anyway probably gonna wait for sales at this point and replay a good old AC game

NANI?

If you didn't shoot off the bosses big gun, pick it up and blast him in the face with it you didn't do the boss properly.
But yeah repeating missions in the demo gives you much better weapons, though it remains to be seen how it plays out in the full game. I'm assuming there's going to be some on foot stuff in the full game too based on how many upgrades are for your apparently worthless meatbag.

Unfortunately in our post-ironic timeline it no longer holds up because it's about a scary white guy with a gun complaining about the simplest poo poo where the solution to his woes is literally firing a rocket launcher at a construction site or holding up a fast food joint because they stopped serving breakfast. It does score points for killing a Nazi and giving an old rich guy a heart attack.

Are the Let’s Go Pokemon games any good? Reading up on it, I’m sort of scared off by all the Pokémon Go-seeming mechanics

njsykora

Robots confuse squirrels.

The Go mechanics are basically catching wild Pokemon and you can link your Go account to trade Pokemon. Other than those bits its a straight remake of Red and Blue with standard Pokemon battles for fighting actual trainers, and they have demos now as well so you might as well try them out.

Naw they're real good. It's a fairly nice mechanic, but I am fully in Team Battle camp for random captures

I just wish it had support for the Pro Controller.

HK is the one I think I've owned the longest (without playing) and to be honest the main reason I never got around to it is that I think howlongtobeat had it pegged at like 34 hours.

Yeah it's absolutely enormous by metroidvania standards but it's almost all good the entire time.

It's weird I will put nearly 80 hours into Valkyria Chronicles 4 a game I thought that was very dumb for most of that run, or 130 hours into MGSV a game I grew to dislike by the halfway point, but the idea of putting more than 30 hours into a Metroidvania feels wrong. I guess I did that and more in La-Mulana 2, though.

al-azad
May 28, 2009

Hollow Knight, and by extension La-Mulana, are more structured like the Souls games where you're expected to make deep dives into unfamiliar territory, probably die a couple times, and retreat back to the main hub to restock and rest. Metroidvanias rarely ask you to return to a hub area, or to bounce back and forth between different levels at once so the time spent playing does rack up.

LawfulWaffle

Well, that aligns with the vibes I was getting. Which was, like, "normal" kinda vibes.
Hollow Knight was an amanzing experience, one of the best games I played last year, and I loved every minute of it. It's challenging but I don't think it's unfair. The common criticisms about the map system or how long it takes to travel around didn't bother me in the least; exploring a new area without a map to orient myself was exciting, as was exploring after getting the map but before you get back to a checkpoint to fill in your discoveries. Having to trudge around the map also worked to keep me kind of grounded to the character. You get some tricks but you're still a little bug in a big ruin and I had fun plotting routes between destinations. I thought that I wasn't physically going to be able to complete the extra difficult challenge area with the joycons, but I did and then I went and beat the Fools challenge, and then I got sad because I was running out of content in an amazing game.

What I'm saying is, don't discount Hollow Knight because it takes time to beat. It's big, it's beautiful, it's engaging, and it's worth your consideration.
