I wondered what Kevin Rudd is up to so I wiki'd himwiki posted:In 2016, Rudd asked the Government of Australia(then a government of the Liberal/National Coalition) to nominate him for Secretary-General of the United Nations. This is the Prime Minister of Australia who was iirc quite popular but got knifed halfway through his first term by party insiders for an ineffectual puppet, then about a week before the election at the end of HER term he replaced her again. (and lost the election) We haven't had a Prime Minister complete a full term since 2007.

So what does everyone think of China locking up Muslims in camps or is the answer: "Actually the US prison system...."

China's treatment of minorities is actually kinda weird. Like imagine if in the US each tribe was legally guaranteed to have a senate seat. But also they have to show up for promotional photos in full tribal regalia all the time to show how progressive the white people, who believe they 'allowed them to be there,' are. Actually that would be substantially loving better than what the US does but

in many ways the National People's Congress is more democratic than the US congress, for instance in US two parties who are the same control everything and rig the political system against third party challengers like joe stein as well as "rebellious" member like Bernie sanders. in China there are almost a dozen different parties as well as many independents in congress including democratic parties representing a wide diversity of political views. Infact most don't know that non-CCP controls more than 800 seats in congress. it's one thing china does do better than the us political system

I think you make some decent posts sometimes Modest Mao but that is a really, really, godawful reply to someone baiting tankies. When you're talking about something like putting people in camps it's a real bad look to try to take the "well lets consider the middle road option" path and it's hard to say why without making a nazi comparison. It looks like you're trying to soften the blow on something incredibly disgusting. And then the "by the way did you know how America etc etc etc" is just exactly what he was setting you up to do. Western reporting on China does suck but lol "putting people in camps is bad" doesn't need a both sides approach. Or if you wanna irony post, go big or go home then it's funnier.

Well if you get imprisoned, social services will pick your kids up from school and drop them off home - unsupervised! Oh and it’s not just Uighurs or Kazakhs, Han government workers who try to quit their jobs or complain online also get sent to the camps

Do they make iPhone inside the camp? Or learn Marxist Leninist Xiist thoughts?
|
# ? Feb 27, 2019 05:35 |

Its possible to be a Marxist and support nations governed by Marxist Parties without necessarily supporting everything they do. It's not like every supporter of the liberal bourgeois world order feels the need to cover for the US prison system or the Japanese internment camps or whatever. Uighur camps are bad and need to stop.

tino posted:Do they make iPhone inside the camp? Or learn Marxist Leninist Xiist thoughts? so far they are making articles of clothing not Iphones: a certain woman of bourgois backgrounds is reported to have a quota of 3 clothes a day (a very reasonable and easily fufillable quota), and yes Marxist-Leninist-Xiist thoughts are taught within the educational concentration camps it's actually kinda a shame that in the US we don't have similar programs for young people of the well-off, if we make bourgeois people with well paid jobs experience the livelihood of working class people in factories maybe they'll less likely to be exploiting them!

Yeah it's ethnic cleansing, most info about it comes from western reporting which I think does a disservice by sometimes being hyperbolic. The people I know from Xinjiang don't really talk about it and just say "I don't know much about that" essentially, and I've never been to xinjiang myself. I shouldn't have opened my mouth cause like 90% of people talking about it I don't know poo poo.

My friend is Han from Xinjiang and some of her relatives work in public service. School teachers don’t have time off anymore because they have to be a “big brother or big sister” for Uighur kids and take them home for Chinese New Year - promoting unity and all that. the country side is still quite nice and i will go there this summer or next summer

Maybe she was sent to a re-education camp because she was working in advertising, which isn’t a very marxist-leninist line of work?

Pretty much every "independence movement" backed by the United States is one part terrorism, two parts personal grift: I also liked this accusation in the comments that she is a CCP false flag: quote:Many people believe that Kadeer is the product of Communist China. What she does is more beneficial to Communist China than to her Uyghur people. Because, she promotes autonomy instead of independence for the Uyghur people like the Chinese does. She terrorize her own people if they disagree with her or choose different path from her by calling them as Chinese spies like she called the announcers of the East Turkistan government in exile as the Chinese agents. In short, Kadeer's labeling the previously established East Turkistan Government in exile as the work of China is very similar to that of China's labeling the people of East Turkistan who advocates independence from China as terrorists in order to justify its persecution in East Turkistan.
