I actually think calling the prison photos fake was dumb also. If it's part of the gimmick you gotta pretend it's real. We know she's not in jail for real. I don't think she's getting that she's supposed to be performer and actor at once. If David Duchovny tweeted that aliens weren't real, no big deal. If there's an official in character Mulder twitter account, tweeting "lol aliens are fake" would be really dumb for that account. Knowing when the role changes is something some performers get and some don't seem to. But calling the poo poo fake during the actual storyline build should be the most obvious one and I don't see how she doesn't get it.

There are people who don't like it, but the people who know or care about kayfabe aren't the people who will turn off the television on the angle. It's the kind of thing that keeps fans engaged with the angle even though there isn't really any TV on right now and they're technically not even scheduled for the PPV.
