Interestingly out of all the things they don't allow you to deduct. Student Loan interest is deductible when figuring out your SNAP(food stamps) amount payment. It's like one of the few extra deductions available.

It is, depending on the locale, but at the moment the main impact seems to be the quality of the available jobs and not so much salary depression.

I’m sure the effect on salaries varies wildly depending on location, but’s still a relatively high paying job.

What the gently caress is Florida thinking? It’s literally THE state where rich old white racist people go to die. Who’s gonna take care of their geriatric asses if they de-license a good chunk of their health workers?

I missed this one during the speech initially, and it’s probably top 5 in insane and inaccurate things he’s said. Does he think birth control works like alcohol?

This was posted a few pages back but this post is a fairly representative reaction to Trump's statement. It is hard to find the time to sort through half the bullshit the man spews, but in this case it's worth it.

Good statistics are hard to find on the prevalence of sexual assault and exploitation of women at the border, but it's a real problem. Trump tends to fabricate numbers, but it is true that the broken immigration system that he encourages that forces migrants to hide from the law has resulted in an incredible amount of human misery.

Here's an article from the Guardian from 2017 about the issue:

The priest helping women get birth control at US border: 'Lesser of two evils'

It's a lovely policy, there's a dozen states with the power to suspend licenses for unpaid student loans, only FL actually enforces it. But it's hardly sweeping in scope. Only affects defaulted loans, and 90% work out a payment plan.

https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/...t-loan-defaults

"The state Board of health says about nine hundred healthcare workers were in danger of losing their license over the past two years because they were in default of their student loans. The board clarified it worked out repayment plans with most of those workers. It estimates the actual number of health care license suspensions is between 90 and 120 since November 2016."

I worry we will soon see something similar with skilled trades. Everywhere you look people are saying learn a trade, the world always needs welders/electricians/plumbers/etc and they get paid well!" It's like the shoeshine guy giving stock tips indicates a bubble thing - whatever everyone is saying is the career to go into is probably going to crash from over saturation.

In the case of pharmacists it's a job that was specifically being touted as a viable alternative during the last economic crash. (Although to be fair it was mostly being touted by a slew of Pharmacy schools that had just opened up) I remember older Millenials being repeatedly assured that pharmacist was the career path with guaranteed lifetime employment.

Semantically, "you" is both singular and plural, though syntactically it is always plural. It always takes a verb form that originally marked the word as plural.

Also, there is no plural when the context is an argument with an individual rather than a group. Somfin shouldn't put words in my mouth.
