If you don't specifically ask about return to snow it means you're not not cleared to ski. But seriously I'm glad you got a few nice turns in.

Haha, I would say the conversation went like this: Doc: give it three more weeks to heal up. Me: can I rock climb? Doc: no, don't bare weight over 20 lbs Me: can I run? Doc: in three weeks Me: can I ride my bike? Doc: no mountain biking, riding to work you can but if you could give it 2 weeks that would be good Me: can I ski? Doc: if you can wait three more weeks... Just don't get run into or fall on your shoulder. It was kind of that I am not your mother and your an adult tone. Sounds like the go ahead to ski mellow powder to me...

Three people have died in tree wells in Oregon in the last two weeks. One at Timberline, one at Mt. Ashland, and the other on Mt. Bachelor. All of them were skiing with friends. Please be careful out there, everyone. And the buddy system doesn't work unless you actually keep an eye on each other, which means stopping and regrouping often.

I'm just back from a snowboarding trip in Mt Vogel in Slovenia (don't go there btw, although Slovenia itself is lovely!) and figured it's about time to upgrade from my bottom-of-the-line Trespass/TK Maxx clothing to something maybe a little better. Here's the outfit I'm thinking of, but just looking for general advice on if I'm picking the right stuff to not totally break the bank but still have something halfway decent. Jacket: https://www.absolute-snow.co.uk/V/Burton_Covert_SnowboardSki_Jacket_S_Bog_Heather-(189147) or https://www.absolute-snow.co.uk/V/Burton_Covert_Shell_SnowboardSki_Jacket_S_Bog-(210105) Trousers: https://www.absolute-snow.co.uk/V/DC_Banshee_SkiSnowboard_Pants_S_Golden_Red-(208924) or https://www.sailandski.co.uk/acatalog/Burton-Covert-Snow-Pants-18-19-37523.html Helmet: https://www.absolute-snow.co.uk/V/Anon_Rodan_SkiSnowboard_Helmet_S_Orange-(163476) Gloves: https://www.absolute-snow.co.uk/V/Dakine_Leather_Titan_Gore_Tex_SnowboardSki_Gloves_S_Carbon-(141946) When I hit up Banff again in 2021 I'll be getting new boots. Currently have 2012 Salomon Synapse boots that I lucked out on eBay for my first trip in 2015 - they were apparently only worn once before the seller decided to sell them on a while later. They're still comfy enough but I figure something actually moulded to my feet might be good. Also, anyone got experience with in-helmet audio stuff? I usually don't put any music on, but sometimes if a run is empty or I'm bored on a ski lift I like a little bit of background sound through my headphones. Does anyone wear hoodies while snowboarding and have any recommendations or ones to avoid? I've seen a few snow specific ones that look pretty cool and more comfortable than my bulky-rear end DC jacket that's usually overkill on sunny days.

On Berthoud Pass, anything that could slide basically did. There were crowns visible everywhere from the road. No step-downs as far as I could tell, but…yeah. I’m not sure how the current temperature inversion factors (it’s 3° in Denver at the moment; it’s in the teens in the high country), but this storm seemed to come in upside down. I remember watching blower flakes starting on Saturday afternoon in Denver, and thinking “this could be a problem.” There were, of course, tracks on just about everything you’d expect. Stay safe, friends.

https://beheadwear.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=59 You can find this bluetooth hat for around 40 dollars on amazon, and slide the audio portion out and throw it into your helmet, works great. The cheaper bluetooth hat options on amazon suck and are too thick for most helmet earflaps.

Question Mark Mound posted:Cheers! I'll check these out. The helmet I linked to has slots for mini speakers so this should fit I'm sure. If you have space in the helmet for them that worked out best for me. I run these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018WRJLES/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which look like they aren't available anymore. I'd target 40mm driver, 3/8th plug, and maybe some thicker gauge wire because these are pretty thin. That said I've had them for 4 seasons now and they are working great. I also was running a separate thicker cord from the ipod to the speakers that was more robust and included a play/pause, volume, and skip function that worked pretty well, but upgraded jackets in that time so I no longer need a longer cord or the accessibility. It's mostly to help drown out some of the other noises...music is low enough that I can hold conversations, but loud enough I can hear it on the lift. It's weird. It helps me ride. Probably want to avoid cotton, but some of the more outdoor/working styled ones from like Dickies or someone along those lines can work really well. They usually have a fleece or flannel lined inside with whatever as the outer shell...preferably a cotton blend over 100% cotton but . That said I've seen people with 6 layers on and rocking a regular hoodie.

Yeah the ones I've seen are made of cotton blend with water resistant outers and snow specific things like zip pockets and pit vents and elbow pads and things. I've found a couple so I might bite the bullet on one and just try it out!

Analog (Burton) and Rome make "technical" hoodies that are what you're after. A coaches jacket might be a good pick up too.

Burton's bonded fleece hoodies would probably be alright for you. Water resistant-ish and do a decent job stopping the wind. I wear one as my main jacket and have worn one while riding before as well.

I just wear a Patagonia fleece and a long sleeve polyester running shirt underneath for Spring riding. It isn't water proof but I that isn't an issue on the types of days that I wear it.

I should definitely get a snow hoodie, I run hot as gently caress. On a normal ~30° day, I'm usually down to a standard hoodie after gettin goin and yeah those get wet easily. I don't know why it didn't occur to me that this was probably something that existed.

I typically wear nipple tassels and face/body paint but I change the colors up. Turns out I knew the guy that went missing. He had a wife and two kids. Also, we had a 5.3 earthquake near here yesterday so that should help stabilize the snowpack...

Yeah it’s a weird balance of “this is really sad” and “what in the everliving gently caress were you thinking.” I just heard the heli take off again and I know they’re not doing skiing right now so hopefully they’re going to go bomb their terrain and not searching for another body.

It was mostly just a powder cloud. Once it settles the cars will be shoved into the ditch but generally ok. If it is in the snow path then yes basically. Hope and pray.
