how dumb is Sean McElwee to have watched the last 2 years unfold and not realize how much of the battleground is going to be cultural as opposed to anything regarding policy, it doesn't matter how good your policy sounds and will materially be for a chud if you present it while standing on top of a burned out NASCAR and wiping your rear end with the confederate flag. there needs to be some type of meaningful reconciliation between major population centers and rural folks

i dunno what can be done about it, but there's plenty of people living out here in the rural areas who have leftist sympathies. a while back i wrote a letter to the editor for the local paper about how we need universal healthcare and for the next week i had people, even folks who are chuds, telling me they agreed and that medical bills are a huge problem for them
