Thanks. I guess I just haven't noticed it happening in the past because it's usually turned on already when I set it down on the charging pad.

I wouldn’t say that. I only have it because I’m on the AUP I’ve had every phone since the beginning and I’ve never needed it.

It just depends on how clumsy / prone to breaking things / what kinda job you have.

How clumsy are you?

Personally, I get it myself because I don't trust myself and I won't buy a big bulky case for my phone. I think over the various models, I've used it twice. Once because something was clearly messed up with the logic board in the phone and the other because I dropped my phone and it landed flat on concrete face down and shattered the display.

AC+ isn't the awesome deal it once was but it's such a small percentage of the price of a new phone I'm not sure why you'd not get it. It makes repairs less of a stress.

But it is still just insurance, they wouldn't sell it if it didn't make them a profit.

Nope, never had it. I think since 3GS I'm out $199 on repairs, so it would have been a big waste for me.

If I was clumsy or crazy enough to buy a 1600 dollar phone I’d have insurance, but I’m good with my phone and it’s a 6s so Let It Ride.

That would cover less than half what this phone cost me this go around.

Also, I hate huge cases. Hell, even The One True Case is borderline too big for me.

Words cannot describe what a disaster the pie was.
Is reception on the XS Max just bad compared to older iPhones? My office is in an old metal building that eats reception. My old phones id at least get a couple bars with occasional drops to nothing. But it seems like my XSMax has no signal more often than it has signal.

It’s so bad I’m wondering if I got a bad unit or I need to start researching cell boosters.

There have been a lot of automation issues lately and the only fix seems to be resetting your location settings on your iphone, restarting your Apple TV and reconnecting from there.

I had to set it up in the right order - the Home app bases itself it seems on whatever device I set it up from and the rest talk “ through “ it. The Hue app also fucks with it and it’s prefs and settings depending on if you set it up in Hue or Home first . Dunno.

Regarding durability - my saddle brown whatever case wore through so I’ve been raw dogging my 7. It gets more dings being dropped without a case but it is a very durable device. It doesn’t explode just because you bumped it or whatever.

The $600 ($550 after deductible) covers the entire out of warranty replacement of the Xs so long as I have the phone in my possession to give Apple. So the only thing I’m not wholly covered by is loss/theft.

Whats the go-to for a Slim but Rugged Case for an XR?

My girlfriend works outdoors and has it in a Pelican Case at the moment and its just too god drat bulky. it was the only one available in the store at the time and she was paranoid about dropping it.

I had to do a factory reset of my phone recently and now my keyboard won’t suggest actual emoji in the autocomplete bar. Prior to the wipe I could type out a word that (somehow) conceptually mapped to an emoji and see the emoji, tap it, and have the word replaced by the emoji.

Is there something I need to do to re-enable this?

Yeah I really hate the new Hue app. I guess calling it new after two years is super stubborn but the only one Just Worked and didn't break everything else on your phone. I generally like home, it's still way more reliable than Home Assistant but when it goes wrong it just is such a mess.

I realized that next month is my last payment on both my and my wife's iPhones 7 Plus.

I have never stuck with a phone this long. Every Android I tried turned to poo poo in a year so I always did the early upgrade thing. We talked about upgrading to XSes, but at the same time the next iPhone is only what, 7 months out? The 7+ will certainly last until then.

Looks like the way to do it is kinda dumb (and likely the same for windows as mac):

From https://www.reddit.com/r/1Password/comments/8llv7t/license_price/e7ka1tz/

quote:

You have to install 1p7 and then when you are prompted to sign up for a subscription there is a link underneath that about buying a license. Clicking on that link you are presented with a screen like this: https://i.imgur.com/gOUaMC7.png

If you bought the app prior to them going free (with subscription) you were upgraded to the pro features.

I don't even run the client, I just use the standalone browser plugin for everything. A lot simpler if you run between multiple machines all day.

Doesn't apply if you aren't on the subscription model though.
