Main Paineframe posted:It's related to some inter-PoC drama that's been taking off lately on Twitter. I'm not that versed in it, but as best as I can tell (please, someone, correct me on all the bits I'm horribly off-base on, because my understanding is pretty basic), the longtime friction between African-Americans and more recent African immigrants to America has erupted into a movement calling itself American Descendants of Slavery (#ADOS), which argues that African-Americans who can trace their American roots back to before the Civil War are entitled to more generous treatment than transplants who've only been here a generation or two at most. It argues that African-Americans who were brought here as slaves in the 1700s are not members of the same group as (for example) a first-generation African-American whose parents came here from Africa in the 1970s, and that the two groups should be treated differently in both rhetoric and policy, despite their similar skin color. #ADOS are reductionist, xenophobic trolls at best, Russian bots and Atl right plants at worst. Their goal is not reparations but to fracture Pan-Africanism and damage leftist initiatives. They are extremely clever with using class/race rhetoric to feed a brand of right wing populism. gohmak fucked around with this message at 21:33 on Mar 4, 2019 |

Twila Barnes has been critiquing Warren for a while on this. Not saying her claims aren't valid, but it's also not really new. I'm going to defer to leaders of the three Cherokee nationally recognized tribes on how Warren is doing to address the criticisms made of her. From what I gather all three have said she has made strides to make amends. Also Warren made an unexpected appearance at a Native American leadership gathering a month or so back, and was very warmly received. Still though, I'll admit that her past actions from years and decades back definitely raise serious questions. Some can just come from ignorance and being influenced by the culture she was brought up as. But it still doesn't excuse it. theblackw0lf fucked around with this message at 21:36 on Mar 4, 2019 |

Speaking with some black seniors at my job today I tried to persuade them to vote Bernie this time around. The consensus seemed to be Biden is their first choice but if he doesn’t run they will vote for Bernie. I take that as a good sign as it means the establishment push of Kamala Harris is not penetrating yet.

Not that it's really relevant to the election anymore now that Bernie entering the race made Warren's numbers crater to mid single-digits where they should be

Biden sucks rear end at campaigning and lost hard every time he tried to be president. If he actually announces the aura of Obama's cool VP will vanish as every other centrist climbs over each other to stab him in the back like the power-obsessed narcissists they are, you won't be able to turn on the TV or radio or open the internet without hearing about him praising segregationists and funding Republicans. Biden will be their chief competition at that point and it won't matter that Bernie will benefit the most by them destroying his reputation because each of them thinks that once they lock up the center for themselves, Bernie will be easy to dispatch because his base is all stoner frat boys who don't vote. It'll be like the 2016 Republican primary all over again, all the worst people knife-fighting in a ditch until the last two survivors belatedly realize it's too late to stop the insurgent.

Shaun King has been a controversial figure in the BLM community for a long time before this, especially under accusations that he's stolen money and work from other lesser-known activists. Like I think this is less "because of his support for Bernie, he's cancelled!" and more "We'll focus in on Shaun King because he's already a controversial figure and thus ignore the valid criticisms"
