Hold on. There's a mixer tap, which produces (one assumes) hot and cold water. And there's another tap on the left. What's that for?

Yeah, it would be a great rental, but to live in no thanks. It probably happens more than we think though. I know my previous apartment complex was originally envisioned as "resort style living," which fails to realize that people like going to resorts because it's a special occasion, as opposed to every day. Of course digging up old articles about I suspect that by the 8th year (1977) the builders burnt two of the buildings down for insurance, and it began it's decline into a slum.

I used to think these were the coolest things ever, but now I think of doing literally everything either completely custom or picking from the limited stock available specifically for geodesic domes and run shrieking. I guess it might be fun for, like, a greenhouse or something where you just need a bunch of single-paned windows and no insulation.

Yeah, I think you could make it work ok for a house, but they seem much better suited for a cabin or, like, one of those detached offices/mother-in-law apartments or whatever.

I guess it might be fun for, like, a greenhouse or something where you just need a bunch of single-paned windows and no insulation. back when I lived in a house on a half-acre lot we started planning a geodesic dome greenhouse. There are lots of plans available to DIY - because most domes are only made from 2 kinds of polygonal panels, you can create jigs to efficiently build the panels, and since they aren't individually very large, two adults can assemble them without too much trouble. There were even some that could be built as frames only, and then covered with clear plastic sheeting as a type of modified hoop house. Building a house from it would require a ton more work. Sealing becomes more of an issue because with that many seams you have that many more opportunities for leaks, and like you said, no insulation. In the greenhouse, heat regulation was done via a few panels that were built with an inner frame so the window could be opened slightly to vent. Also, if you don't want to live entirely in a bubble, attaching a dome to a non-dome structure gets into some really weird math.

I've slept in a sleeping bag that narrow, that's also about the width of a normal cot, it's really not that big of a deal. You adjust pretty quickly to a sense of where the edge is. Twin beds are called that because they sleep two. The larger issue is the blanket on that bed has zero overhang, so if someone actually got in it, they'd have gaps on both sides. Even a child.
