Yeah, comprehensive coverage is usually pretty cheap. Might be worth checking if your insurer offers $0 glass deductible comprehensive coverage. You'd get a $x deductible ($1000/500/etc) for all but glass claims, which are covered free of charge.

Yeah my comp deductible is $100 specifically because I want it to cover stereo theft, and it still only costs me like $15 a month.

In fact, I lowered my liability limits and took out an umbrella policy because the umbrella was so much cheaper. I can certainly eat the cost, but it still stings. Got a free 2x faster internet speed upgrade yesterday courtesy of Charter Communications, run a speed test, still old speed. Plug directly to modem, run speed test, getting new speed. Put router back in mix, run speed test, back to old slow speed. No problem, just upgrade router firmware... BRICK! loving poo poo... Well, it was 5 years old anyway, so it was probably time for a new router anyway. Picked up a Netgear Orbi mesh kit, works tits and all devices have new speed, even on wifi and no fuckery involved (installing DD-WRT over the top) for VPN and DDNS since it's built in. Previous wifi router wasn't reaching 100% of all areas of the property, new one does with the mesh wall units. A+++ Would brick router again.

I'm about to ditch Comcast for Verizon and I have never been happier about tossing a $150 modem in the trash. Good part about this is that I won't need to buy another router. I want to do ethernet from VZ ONT to my gateway. I gotta figure out what to do about the TV though. I think I still have an old Verizon router somewhere I can use as a MoCA bridge.

Verizon doubled my speed to 100/100 for no extra cost! And then my bill went up 20/mo a few weeks later. They sent me a survey asking how happy I was with the FREE UPGRADE. Oh well, the speeds good and it's reliable.

That's the thing I like about Charter, there's only 1 internet package and customers get whatever the fastest available is. Currently 250down/10up for $65 a month. Supposed to be gig by next year. Before when I had Charter I use to bitch about them, but then I moved and had AT&T/Comcast/Another rural wifi internet provider, all with data caps and lovely speeds being within acceptable range. When I moved back to my house again, I had a new-found respect for Charter and how little they actually gently caress with the customers and leave rates alone.

I have few complaints about Spectrum (formerly Time Warner), but really, my only other choice is AT&T/U-verse, with their caps and speeds well below Spectrum for the price. AT&T kept going on about their new faster service, but still hasn't brought it to my neighborhood yet, while still crowing about it in emails (I still have AT&T mobile service.) Spectrum was up front about the promotional price, and what it would be after the promotional period (unlike Time Warner was,) and my speed and service have been consistent. I was a little annoyed to learn that their modem won't do any routing if you opt out of WiFi (they just wholesale turn off WiFi and all router functions in the firmware, and don't mention the routing part...) but I had a Netgear router I could use. I've since bought another router that supports OpenVPN to configure my NordVPN on for VPN access for all WiFi devices as needed without having to install the client on the device. Suck it, Feds.

Prior to their takeover I was paying $80/month for 40 down/5 up, which became 100 down/10 up with a reduction to $65/month. Outages and service improved immensely too (fewer of the former, faster and more thorough responses for the latter.) OTOH I did have to call them to have myself removed from the prior TWC plan, but that's fairly typical with cable providers.

If you have outages or run into speed caps then maybe read local reviews and then switch. I've had Comcast for 12 years at my house and it's been full speed and more reliable than my electricity service itself. Like I can count the outages I've had on one hand. And one of them was an accidental disconnection by a tech who gave my line to a new neighbor because the label was so old it had fallen down and worked its way in to the ground. They did try to charge me to hook it back up, I refused that poo poo. Hehe.

Good news -- the windshield installer was familiar with GM's systems, said the cameras would recalibrate themselves as long as they were off during the install. True to word, that's what happened. So it was only $937. And he cleaned all my windows and put new wipers on.
