if you try to emulate nier 1 and it runs bad don't be too discouraged to try out drakengard because i think nier actually just emulates worse lol

It's neat seeing Blaster Kid slowly emerge as the de facto protagonist, and his history slowly teased out every few episodes. It's an approach to character building that wouldn't work these days since anime are a lot shorter now in general

This mostly comes from having way more chars, mind, but most games try to give their low-stars some charm too. Imagine if FGO 3* and belows were all Eric Bloodaxe. I can't stand the gacha in XB2. While the opportunity to include guest characters and designers was good, it basically created a vague region of characters that didn't matter because it's a pretty story-heavy JRPG. If it were more open/free roamy (which XB2 has aspects of, certainly) it may work better. But also, gacha games with poor gacha UI is awful.
