Something I want in doom2 is some coop content where it’s balanced around requiring two people to go through it. Not sure if they can tune the difficulty properly to do that though. After all the doom marine is already op as gently caress. Maybe they could make the enemies faster especially the barons of hell and hell knights, idk. Hell I’d settle for just the single player game but double monster spawns.

the problem is the market execs are trying to market it to every dumb jock that like the fast and furious/transformers garbage and use the doom name to draw in fans of the game/genre. could an action movie in this day and age even work with a silent, faceless protagonist?

The Fast and Furious movies are some of the most well done, and dare I say cleverly done action movies around. I thought they looked bad too, not sure if you've dived into the oeuvre, but I watched the first four before Fast Five hit, and was quite impressed. I'd compare them favorably to the Marvel cinematic universe. They're ridiculous, but in a good way. Now Transformers movies, a bit tougher to defend (other than the 1986 masterpiece), but I do find the third one is so ridiculous it's memorable. And in general Shia delivers the goods. Also Bumblebee was good. This film here looks more like your usual generic made for SyFy kind of movie. Also I don't think Doomguy would need to be silent in a good Doom movie, and he's not faceless in the 90s games. Maybe since he'd be alone for a lot of it he'd effectively not talk at times, like Ripley at the end of Alien, but I'd be fine with him talking a bit. Ditto for Gordon Freeman if they made a Half-Life movie.

It's a strange comparison but I say that the Fast and Furious movies did what the Resident Evil movies should have done. Start out low key and small, but build up the ridiculousness and action until you get a goddamn superhero movie. Which is exactly the next movie is going to be. I love them. I can't tell if this is in "so bad it's good" territory or just plain "it's poo poo" territory. I guess I hoped for more betterer stuff since the recent games have shown that folks actually understand the franchise. This looks like it should be on the WB and feature Alyssa Milano or some poo poo.
