That reminds me we had a breakroom at work built on an old dock about 36 inches above the concrete floor. I tried for years to get the money to replace it. Finally happened when the soda machine fell through the floor.

Ornamental Dingbat posted:Was it dieseling or was the intention to blow sludge all over the windshield? Based on how stripped out the front end is, it's probably either a drag truck or a pulling truck, likely making in the range of 1000hp/2000ftlbs. I'm guessing they were dynoing it when it ran lean and POOF. You can see that' it's strapped to the ground, obviously for a dyno. They probably blew up close to 50 grand right there. Hermaphrodite posted:Obscuring your own vision to own the libs. I'm not gonna jump to anybody's defense too vigorously, because there does seem to be a lot of overlap between the "diesel power" and "own the libs" crowd, but a lot of diesel drag/pull competition rules require the exhaust coming out the hood with bolts criss-crossing within a certain distance of the turbo to stop the truck from firing flaming hot chunks of metal directly at spectators when things like this happen. there's usually another pipe that directs the exhaust up over the top of the vehicle that goes on when the hood doesn't have to be lifted constantly while they're loving with stuff under there. To their credit, they're not doing it entirely indoors https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_KhDFyq24E&t=950s the worst part is that this dyno cell has an exhaust extractor, they've used it every other year.

https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/111126345/west-coast-worker-dies-after-inhaling-fumes-while-laying-carpet This happened to the father of one of my son’s friends. He apparently had opened some tins of carpet glue and was over come then collapsed. He wasn’t found for some time. Been past the building a few times it is a shed being converted to office space, so it was small with limited ventilation. It hits quite hard as we used to chat casually while watching our kids play sport etc. Shows the importance of always following safety protocols even if it is something you work with everyday.
