I've seen Earth maybe five times now and I'm always surprised at how different and fresh it is. Not just the lineup/instrumentation changes (first time I saw them they had Goldston on cello) but just what wavelength they choose to ride. They were pretty mellow a decade ago and got heavier and heavier for a few years and now they seem to be dialing that back again. Anyway my punchline here is that even if they are playing Engine of Ruin/Coda Maestoso/Ouroboros every tour it's pretty clear they rework everything to chase whatever muse Dylan is chasing at the moment and that makes for a good time

Hey everyone  I have some exciting news. As of today, this thread is.... 8 years old! I can't believe we've been posting in this iteration of the S/D/S thread since 2011! Props to the legend Idioteque Dance for starting this new one after the amazing last one. I've learned about so much great music in here that's really shaped my life. So many great memories from concerts I've gone to after hearing about bands from people here. Although I haven't been listening to as much of this type of music as I was 8 years ago, Metal is still always in my heart. Woo!
