I actually really dig the new food court at Cosmo. Chef's Table at Scarpetta is my favorite date night spot, I loathe STK though.

They did somehow put a ton of great restaurants into one food court. Beats the shhhhhhit out of Eataly.

Haddy B's and PokPok i can personally vouch for! Milk Bar kinda overrated? Maybe my mouth was just done after that extra hot fried chicken.

That hand roll place is actually fire too. Like it's not strip prices for good hand rolls. I love Milk Bar because the fat kid in my loves Crack Pie more than almost anything.

Has anyone been to Jaleo? My wife and I love China Poblano (Jose Andres' other restaurant in the Cosmo) but didn't know much about Jaleo and opted for other places for our more upscale meals.

Jaleo is good. Julian Serrano is better in just about every way though. é is a really cool dining experience (8 seat restaurant inside Jaleo) though and worth going to.

Jaleel also does some interesting prix fixed menus as well, if you don’t want to or can’t get a ticket to é (which is still hands down my favourite meal of all time). Agree ‘regular’ Jaleo is good, all the extra stuff pushes it over for me. Maybe it just helps being knowledgeable and talking to the staff about what is going on?

I suppose next time I will need to try Julian Serrano...

Does anyone have any suggestions for good casual vegan food? -I’ve seen the Wynn offers a vegan menu at each of their restaurants but I’m on the look out for something a bit more low key for breakfasts/quick lunches.

I am either going to be spending 6 nights in Vegas alone in June, or with a vegan friend- so places with out of this world vegetarian options for me are also appreciated.

I’m in two minds about Absinthe- loads of the reviews mention it’s “hilariously non-PC” but how far does that go? Is it tired old stereotype humour- or actually funny?

It's actually funny. I'm usually not a fan of the "look,I said an offensive thing, lol" type humor, but they really get it just right in that show.

Both. It's stereotype humor but done by someone amazingly skilled at comic timing and improv.

Go see absinthe.

I'd opt for the solo option vs being stuck with a vegan. There are a bunch of vegan restaurants in Vegas though, I couldn't tell you anything about them.

Thanks for the info guys, I’ll stick absinthe back on the list because apart from my worry about it being painfully unfunny the act looks extremely my type of thing.

I’ve been to Vegas before a few years back but didn’t really get around to doing everything I wanted to as we visited as the last stop before flying home after doing Route 66 so we were knackered & I don’t feel I got the most out of it.

As I’m not a massive gambler/drinker I’m trying to work out which shows to go to (last time I did penn and teller & Love)- what is the most shows people would advise seeing in 6 nights without completely exhausting yourself?
I could easily find 6 shows I would want to see but worry about overdoing it.

Just wear the fucking mask, Bob

I don't care how many people I probably infected with COVID-19 while refusing to wear a mask, my comfort is far more important than the health and safety of everyone around me!

I went to Vegas last April for a conference, work paid for the trip. Had a great time.

I want to go back this year with my wife, and my brother and his wife might be tagging along.

Neither of them drink, which is okay because even though I'm an alcoholic I don't A) drink on vacation and B) I'm not paying $20/cocktail

Which hotel has the best non-party pools? I liked the quieter pools at the Venetian but depending on prices I probably won't be staying there if I am paying the bill.
The 'beach' at Mandalay Bay looks neat but it also looks packed and has kids running around.

Also want to hit a couple restaurants of all types but I haven't really narrowed down the list. Yardbird, Eggslut, a brick-oven pizza place would be a welcome suggestion.
I'll gladly pay for food, last time we were limited by a stingy per diem so we ate subway/food court/dennys.

Heading to Vegas next week for my wife's birthday and to see Aerosmith. I want to grab a couple of bottles of liquor for our room and to make take along drinks when we are walking the strip. Is my best bet just hitting one of the Walgreens and paying way too much or is there someplace close by that we can walk to and grab what we need for a little more reasonable price? Someone told me ABC over in the Miracle Mile was pretty good, but had a limited selection.

Yeah the ABC stores are your best bet. There is another one outside the Planet Hollywood mall right on a the strip a bit south of there, and one at Fremont also. And one in the Fashion Show mall on the north side of the strip.

The only other practical option would be getting an uber to Town Square which is an outdoor mall about a mile or two due south of the southernmost strip casino (Mandalay Bay). There is both a whole foods and a total wine there that you could stock up at.

Or even take the bus for cheaper than an Uber.

But yeah, that's a good liquor store. As is the one to the North of Strip proper but shy of the stratosphere,.

Nicer Liquor stores (or amazon) usually have padded envelopes for booze bottles. I’ve flown all over with them, including internationally and never had an issue.

Any recommendations for a place to play small stakes no limit Hold’em? I’m staying at the Cosmopolitan so hopefully somewhere nearby.

My poker experience is basically playing with the same 5 guys for very little money. I’d like to just have the experience and play for a few hours without getting instantly raped.

And the Lord said, "Look, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.
I'd suggest entering some tournaments, most of the casinos with poker rooms have at least one NL tournament with a buy in under $100 every day. At a cash game there is always the chance you get stacked early, especially at a loose low stakes game where people want to gamble.

It actually seemed like more than a normal amount of low stakes grinders when i was there a few months ago. MGM is my spot for complete bottom feeding ego boosting.

Venetian is a weird game now, huge best hand bonus every hour that everyone is going for. Massive calling stations. Should be very profitable, but it changes the dynamics up a lot.

When I started the guy next to me was absolutely hammered and playing super lose. He must have burned through 5 - 6 rebuys in about 20 min. At one point he showed me his cards in the middle of a hand. He was falling off his stool near the end. Everybody else seemed relatively sober and competent.

All in all it was everything I could have hoped for for my first real live experience and a great way to finish off the trip.

I'm thinking about going to visit friends in Vegas in a couple of weeks. I bitched about the resort fees last year when I checked in with this thread, and I still loving hate those. A decent downtown hotel is showing up on a booking site without its resort fee for some classes of room. It is definitely not being shown, even though other rooms have it prominently displayed. I'm wondering if I can dodge it by documenting that it was not disclosed during booking. Anyone have luck with that? It's a $1,000 difference.

If I go, it'll be a long stay early or mid next month, probably 20-22 nights. I can always go to Candlewood or Siegel Suites or something, but meh. Is there any point going with anything other than Priceline or Booking.com, these days? It's be nice to keep it under $1,500 without staying at the paper-walled Super 8 on Las Vegas Bouldevard. I know I'm being a cheap gently caress, but the difference between $1,400 and $2,400 is half a buyin I can't put into the Bellagio $40/$80.

You can always try at the checkin and get shot down. The resort fee will be in some fine print. You can also try to play the loud rear end in a top hat card but you’ll be told to pound sand since you have no standing with them and they aren’t going to give a free $1000 away to someone that has never stayed at their hotel and lost a lot of money there.

I figure I'll get shot down at the desk. I'm wondering more about disputing the charge afterward, if I can show that it wasn't disclosed ahead of time. There are a million places to stay in Vegas. Even if I get banned by a major chain every time I go, it'll take thirty years before it matters, and gently caress them with that resort fee bullshit.

Sure. I mentioned I could stay at Budget Suites or Siegel Suites or something. Those have mostly gotten worse over the last handful of years, though. It's really only housing where I'm trying to be cheap, and that's about 70% protest against the deceptive pricing garbage. Spending $3,500 on the hotel wouldn't break me, but I don't wanna do it. I've also probably got like $500 in comps left at the Orleans, alone, not to mention Bellagio and other poker rooms. I'm set for food even if I go busto in the first week, lol.

If you stay in a privately owned AirBNB in one of the hotels on the strip (like in MGM Grand, Vdara) you can many times avoid the resort fee. Just something to consider
