I'll let the National Film Board description speak for itself:quote:In this animated short, Sleeping Betty is stuck in bed, victim to a strange bout of narcolepsy. The King calls on his subjects to rescue her and they all respond to the call: Uncle Henry VIII, Aunt Victoria, an oddly emotional alien, a funky witch and a handsome prince. But will a kiss really be enough to wake the sleeping princess? The film, drawn in ink, is a classic example of the anachronistic and playful world of Claude Cloutier. This recently came up in my Recommendeds. Apparently this is the creation of one guy who has spent years on it, getting budget money for it from Kickstarter donations. He wants to make 10 - 15 episodes. So far he has 2. It seems that people didn’t quite understand how many people Robot Chicken had on staff nor how long each short sketch took to complete when they decided to give it a spin.

Oh totally - and I tend to double check anyway, since this thread is getting a bit up there in terms of age. This week is my birthday week, therefore I sought out anything from 1979. I found something, but have been running into dead ends regarding the backstory. It bears no Wikipedia page or IMDB page that I can find (if you can find one, please feel free to link it here!). Here is what I know based on the YouTube description: quote:Animation directed by Lev Shukalyukov art direction Vladimir Tarassov With that mystery in mind, here from Belarus is the animated short On Your Marks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcU-I6FtnPk

It's my birthday! Looking around for more equally weird and old things, I found a trailer for something I'd never heard of before. From the description: quote:This candy coloured nightmare rocked audiences upon its release and catapulted maker Suzan Pitt to the front ranks of indie animation. Stunning cel animation propels its blank-faced protagonist into the world of the phallus, rendered here as a field of asparagus, which she deep throats, excretes and flushes away...The film's stunning set piece occurs before a claymation audience who gape as the artist opens her Medusa's box to release rare wonders. A moving meditation on art and the cost of reproduction, Asparagus remains, twenty-five years after its release, a benchmark of single frame intensity. With that in mind, here is a trailer for Suzan Pitt's Asparagus, which looks interesting! Linking because of content. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LLS_IB6GU0
