I don't dislike Hunter x Hunter but it's pretty slow at the best of times, guys. It's not inconceivable that the fast-paced bullshit and one-upsmanship of JoJo fights are what people like, and HxH is way, waaaaaay more about psychological tactics. e: Like, I can think of one or two moments that are even kind of reminiscent of JoJo in that way and they're the dodgeball game and the final fight from Greed Island.

i keep meaning to watch yu yu hakusho because from what i remember of the scattered bits i saw as a kid it's basically 'dragonball but with more ghosts' which sounds pretty good

He has an absurdly privileged deal of being able to work at his own pace compared to the usual mangaka. He also has horrible back issues due to his drawing position which is a pretty big detriment to his work which is likely why he takes so long combined with said privleges he has.
