Also, aside from that level of financial idiocy, just to clear this up, he didn't buy a guitar, he bought a symbol that also happened to be a guitar (well, if it had been real lol) because one of his main criteria was that the guitar had to be a pre-60's Les Paul which has no bearing on any loving thing at all, especially not the utility of the guitar compared to 60's or later models. There is nothing categorically magical about pre-60's Les Pauls other than old fat guys being willing to pay hundreds of thousands for late 50's models with sunburst finishes. Actually, the tolerances on those guitars were even looser than they are now as there was even less QA back then so the guitar is very likely to be worse than anything he could buy off the line today. The fact that the guitar "happened" to play well to him was also incidental, as he bought it without playing it and would have kept it even if it didn't play well to him. And finally... a black 60's triple humbucker Gibson Les Paul is his grail guitar? lol

This Guitar Moves interview with J. Mascis made me love Dino Jr. even more. As a pretty new player, his riffs have been some of the most fun and accessible songs to play. But to get to the music poo poo, his pedal board is basically how mine is shaping up because I don't pay dat  pedal skrilla to just have a subtle effect.
