NTSB says the Atlas 767 went into the ground due to control stick input.

Also, about this time, the FDR data indicated that some small vertical accelerations consistent with the airplane entering turbulence. Shortly after, when the airplane’s indicated airspeed was steady about 230 knots, the engines increased to maximum thrust, and the airplane pitch increased to about 4° nose up and then rapidly pitched nose down to about 49° in response to column input. The stall warning (stick shaker) did not activate.

FDR, radar, and ADS-B data indicated that the airplane entered a rapid descent on a heading of 270°, reaching an airspeed of about 430 knots. A security camera video (figure 4) captured the airplane in a steep, generally wings-level attitude until impact with the swamp. FDR data indicated that the airplane gradually pitched up to about 20 degrees nose down during the descent.

NTSB made it clear that this report doesn’t include any implied probable cause. So I’m sure they’ll clarify when they open the public docket and release cvr.

The tour doesn't cover the 737 line, so I assume they just punt with "That airplane isn't built here, it's perfectly safe, lalalala, can't hear you!"

It's being reported by a few places that the government shutdown may have delayed the software patch by up to 5 weeks.

So, had the shutdown not happened, it's conceivable that this particular accident might not have happened.

I wouldn't be shocked at all. The shutdown messed up a lot of stuff with datacomm and I've heard rumors that it has pushed back s://www.faa.gov/nextgen/snapshots/metroplexes/?locationId=8Denver metroplex stuff an entire year.

I know :thejoke: but I would like to offer a counter point to this, in that QANTAS having an amazing safety record (the one thing yanks know about them, thanks Rainman) is on the back of none of their jets crashing.

Dig back further to their 1920-50 prop services, though...

Well that's interesting. That's a bit of pressure the government probably didn't count on. Either way, I don't see the government coming out of this looking good. It will be interesting how this all plays out.

Just booked a flight to Panama. RJ-900 from YYC - IAH, but a United 738 (NOT MAX) to PTY.

Other than not having storage space in front of you, any downside to being at the front of the bus for both AC? Other than seeing how many old men have prostate problems?
