cant cook creole bream posted:Can someone please explain me what those two votes today actually meant specifically? I'm a bit lost here. The government put forward a motion that said "We rule out no-deal Brexit on March 29th". It was amended in a surprise vote beforehand to just say, "We rule out no-deal Brexit", and then was voted on and passed. Parliament has made its will known that it wants no-deal Brexit ruled out. In order to get to this point, a lot of Tories had to abstain or vote against their own government.

realistically, the eu would probably accept an extension given a) scrapping of may's red lines, b) some kind of changing of the guard or c) a referendum of some sort so e.g. if labour's brexit proposal somehow got through it would constitute meaningful change in the premises for negotiation, and it would be fairly unreasonable of the EU to refuse to give that a go

The last polling I can see is from January & had Remain leading, but not significantly enough to be particularly confident about the result. Was there a single British vote with any relation to Brexit which wasn't absolute chaos?

https://twitter.com/labourwhips/status/1105924096079155204 So. After promising a vote on an extension, May is making it conditional on approving her deal before next week. She's lied, and people are very angry. May is going for Meaningful Vote 3 and hoping Brexiteers are so dismayed by the prospect of a long extension or no Brexit that they vote it through. It might work, but if she wants to play hardball with the DUP I know where my money would be. She's breaking all her promises here and the likelihood is her motion tomorrow will be amended back to what people thought it would be when she promised it.
