Thankyou. I was in a lovely mood, but doofy seahorse-dragon cheered me up.

Finally finished pencilling this fucker: Picked up some nice paper, two attempts at inking so far, two fuckups.

Got to work way early and had some time to draw, finally got past just making circles and crosshatches and got this. lofi posted:Finally finished pencilling this fucker: That looks pretty awesome, looking forward to seeing how it turns out. If it makes you feel better, I went through three fuckups in 30 minutes trying to ink a piece a couple weeks ago; I get real impatient and pay for it a lot.

I've been doodling a lot over the past few weeks, making pictures of various quality. Getting excited for the eventual new release, however long that takes. Someone was talking about Utena in a LP thread so I felt like drawing the game's protag in my closest approximation of the early 00s Bishoujo style. I couldn't slant the shoulders like I had hoped and the whole thing started to get overworked but I like it. I live in the UK. This is a self made politoon. smallmouth posted:[some great drawings of nude figures] Curious to know if you drew these from life, from images or from fantasy? I started with Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and the plan is to bore you all to death with my lovely stuff. My goal is to be able to do landscapes in this style. Truth be told: I am off from work, a mental health week, and it took me 4 days of circling the book to start. I knitted a scarf simply because I was scared to start. Life is weird.

Keetron posted:My goal is to be able to do landscapes in this style. Thankyou, that's a hell of a compliment. Drawing on the Right Side is a great book, it's very much the approach I take. Practice is the #1 thing to get better at art, but good instruction on how to practice is a huge shortcut.

It's very hard to capture the grace of a ballerina on paper.

I'd suggest focusing on gesture more than getting each muscle right - Proko has some great stuff on that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74HR59yFZ7Y

I hope the book will give me ways to do deliberate practise, something that is trumped to be the biggest thing to improve fast. I greatly admire your tenacity (as well as your skill).

haha, thanks! I'll freely admit that some days are a struggle, while other days the drawings draw themselves. Most of the time it's just forcing myself to put a pencil to paper (or screen) even if I don't feel like it. I think it's just starting to become a daily habit now, after 70+ days. Like IronSaber said, I think you're on the right track. Keep at it! I especially like the hand. Try to draw daily even for 20 minutes, and you'll see improvements pretty quickly.

Wanted to draw a new avatar tonight cause I'm sick of the old one. Not sure if I like it enough to switch though.

Al! posted:this has a very "candid photo of a cryptid" quality to it Thanks! It's pretty coarse, as is this one. I thought your raven was fan-freaking-tastic btw and you're making great progress with your birbs. I've just been too tired to comment on all the great stuff people churn out in this thread. Whomsoever reads this, consider yourself complimented.

next exercise, upside down reproduction. Click here for the same but rotated. Fun fact: I had to go for lunch halfway the drawing and I can really see where I started again and how the lines got better after getting back in it.

First run of badge designs. I'll be kicking out a lot of them for reasons that should be very obvious when you look at them, inking and roughcolouring the rest, then cut it down to five designs out of the ones I liked and finishing them. Hopefully.

Another exercise, it felt redundant as the book kept rambling about the awesome click you would make but I think I have been drawing to long to be a full newbie. However, I am following the book as to have pointers what to draw and so here I go. The grey tones are part of the exercise. Disclosure: not posting everything, some things are worse than this.
