Scrub. You’ve clearly never experienced the spectacle that is Grease with Olivia Newton-John Travolta singing “Summer Nights” on the big screen. Oh-wallow-wallow-wallow-uh. But I digress. I’m now thinking about firing up a Gloom server. If I can dig up the mod files and that r1ch open source version of Quake 2 maybe I’ll set it up and link it here.

Alien 3's production was such a wonderful clusterfuck, it's amazing it turned out kinda comprehensible. Like they were faxed script changes from LA while filming in the UK and at one point there was supposed to be a wooden planet or something? David Fincher was just handed a bunch of footage after other directors were sacked and the studio basically said "make it work, good luck." I can't remember looking forward to a movie for actual years and being that loving disappointed. The first PR wasn't amazing, but it was fun as hell at least, the second one just sucked out loud, felt like a direct to video sequel.

Yep, this actually creeped me the gently caress out as a kid so much that I would leave the room while someone else was putting on the game. I was thinking of the last reply I made re: Grease and now I'm sort of riffing on bizarre crossovers with the Alien universe and other popular films in my head. Like if the body in Stand By Me had a completely unexplained chestburster wound, or the Beatles were running away from a horde of xenomorph drones instead of groupies in A Hard Day's Night.

Pennywise the Frown posted:AvP and AvP 2 are two totally different movies in my opinion. AvP was more of an adventure film. The main hero is the one you know from the very beginning of the movie. It's a big mystery for half the movie and you discover why the Predators hunt the aliens. The ending is... interesting with the hero with the alien armor/weapons and teaming up with a Predator so the predator ends up being the GOOD guy. That's actually a major plot in the Alien vs Predator books. The character (Machiko Noguchi) is a recurring character in a bunch of the comics/books that followed, so it kinda makes sense for them to crib that for the movie. As to AvP:R being darker, if you didn't realize it when they show a facehugger attacking an 8 year old in the first ten minutes, I mean...

Mister Speaker posted:What has fewer degrees of separation from the Alien universe: The Matrix, or Grease? Serious question. Grease for sure. Alien ostensably takes place in the future of the "real world" timeline that Grease also exists in. The Matrix posits that humanity has been living in a constructed world that could be the far-flung past or distant future. It could take place in any timeline. Ours, its own, or even the one where Link fails to defeat Ganon.
