Of course Trump then reverted to type by taking about a second referendum being 'unfair on the winners' and thus completely not understanding the purpose of democracy.

Plaid are great ideologically. But they're a nationalist party and there is very little political demand for nationalism in Wales at the moment. Like people still get pissy about the English all the time but no one seems to give a gently caress about actually splitting or doing anything other than grumbling. Also the older folks tend to vote Tory just like in England. The language thing is a barrier because Welsh is uncommon outside the North west. The only bit Westminster could give a gently caress about is Cardiff and they don't know what Welsh is.

Thoroughly glad he's upset. That's a real shame, I don't really keep up with him but Dempsey had come out with some solid takes even though I'm sceptical of his Lexit position. There's a real issue with transphobia amongst the old school ML left (which I'd say he's a part of, if not consciously) which I find very strange, as there's not actually anything in the theory that's necessarily hostile to trans people except maybe a very superficial (mis)reading of what 'materialism' actually means.

There's an old school left idea that basically dismisses all what you might call liberal progressivism as bourgeois decadence. So they tend to be poo poo on lgbt stuff and also a bit iffy on feminism sometimes too. But if someone can construct a proper marxist argument against sexual deviancy I would be fascinated to hear it cos I don't reckon it exists.
