Hot drat, you need that BlueMW badly. Stupidly low miles, no accidents, one owner.

That is absolutely worth the asking price. It will likely not depreciate much less than that if the miles are kept reasonable. For reference just a bit over 2 years ago I paid $39500 for my E90 and it had right under 41K miles on it. Mine is a 2011 and ZCP. This model does have the EDC which adds a lot to resale, same with the enhanced premium sound system. At this point those are two things that people REALLY weigh a lot when shopping used market E9X models. A lot of people love the six speed and typically see them get 1-2K more than the DCT models (I specifically shopped for DCT and I have zero regrets).

That car is absolutely worth the price and it is going to be gone within a week.

Hi BMW thread, long time no see!
I'm tired of all the dumb, non essential stuff breaking on my E28 that that I don't have time to fix so I'm getting an E82 (how fitting right?)

https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/vm13670

Specifically this one, which has all the stuff I really wanted (turbo, flappy paddles, leather sport seats) and none of the poo poo I didn't (iDrive), really the only thing that would make it better is if it was a slicktop in alpine white but I'm fine with the black too

I'll post pics when it gets here

I feel this is half of the posts on every Rennlist/BMW FS thread and the cars sit week after week. I'm not sure the market for 10 year old $20-30k+ used german cars is all that large.

When I owned my z4m, I was a regular on the zpost forum, and their classifieds. Half of those posts exist because they are owners of said cars and they want the resale values to stay as high as possible, so they post stuff like "wow this is priced great!" even if it's over market. Some of them will flat out say that's why they're posting.

While maybe true, he is really capitalizing on the color. Try to find an E90 (sedan) M3 in the US that is not black, white, or silver/grey.

Then try to find one with this few miles, and one or even two owners.

open spoiler: it doesn't exist. I think 36500 is a pretty fair starting point for this. There just are not many out there.

EDIT: This was the best I could find on Autotrader: $36900 Blue M3 59k

This one has extensive (and some questionable) mods, higher miles, dude lists it with a "harmon kardon" stereo, which these were never advertised as having, a third row seat (???) and back up camera (also doesn't exist).

The challenge here is you're like one of maybe 10s of people that would ever consider paying that kind of money for that specific car.

That kind of money buys you a lot of car these days. Like a brand-new Camaro SS 1LE that in every dynamic measure trounces the M3 (E90 onward included.)

Other fun sedans right in that territory also include the '16+ ATS-V that were available as a stick to boot, and if you do some minor budget stretching and you can also be looking at other cool things like the '15+ AMG C63 and the '17+ Alfa Quadrifoglio. Go up a sedan size class and we're also talking '14+ E63s AMGs, manual F10 M5s, 392 Scat Pack and Hellcat Chargers, and so on.

TLDR that's kind of a crappy value (a good $7k+ over KBB too) that most buyers will have trouble financing and in some ways is outclassed by a lot of cars that have followed. I struggle with ever paying over market value for any car and considering how competitive the 30-50k car space is these days really don't see a blue E90 as belonging in that tier.

Don’t know what you’re implying but yes the M5, and also don’t forget the Chevy SS - rarer, only 200 lbs heavier, better suspension, tons more torque, a much better back seat and infotainment, and in blue and a manual.

*bold added by me*

These are all really good points, particularly on the price range we are discussing. Believe me I grappled a lot with my decision two years ago, as I paid for the car with cash and it was the most expensive car I had ever bought before. I knew that I could buy a brand new, in-warranty Mustang or Camaro for the same price that would not only beat up the M for its lunch money in a drag race but would atomic wedgie it into oblivion on a track as well. Objectively it doesn't make sense if you are trying to get "the best" stats filling car for the dollar. It was likely more emotional based decision. I wanted the M3. I have lusted after an M3 since it was really the first car that I truly cared about as an automotive wonder. The E46 M3 debuted the year I turned 16 and was the object of my affection. ~16 years and marriage and three kids later, and values being what they were the E90 made more sense and I fell in love with the idea of having one (rod bearing failures and all).

Having owned a ratty E36 M3 for a few years really prepped me with the thought of "future" ownership. I compared my 1997 M3 to other contemporary sports cars of the day. My original window sticker of that car was ~$44K. Of cars in the same class and year there is not another sports car I would have had over the E36 ~20 years later. It had a smaller engine than the Corvette of the year, and less power but it was the better car 20 years later.

A Mustang is faster, but this generation Mustang in 10 years? 20 years? Nobody will give a crap about. The best Mustang is the newest Mustang. Same is true about Camaros and Corvettes and they are common as hell. I see other E9X's once every few months. Two weeks ago was the first time I saw an actual E90 M3 on the road in about four or five months. Driving an M3 of this vintage in 20 years? It will be awesome. I am just as excited about the idea of driving my M3 now as I am driving it a decade from now.

I have no problem knowing/admitting that my line of thinking is broken but the car to me is a representation of goal setting and years of working towards that goal and achieving it.
