I think our crew needs to get some coordination going. Its not really fun thinking we are pushing for a promotion but then nobody really plays besides the final day. (Not counting the new guys)

That’s my bad. I got ready to grind this weekend and then saw blank Spotlights and assumed we were holding for one of the back two weeks. Setlist didn’t seem great either. But you’re right that we should coordinate. Sorry my dude

Sorry Zedd, things looked dire in terms of effort required this week and I saw Beelzebozo's message a couple days ago that we weren't pushing this week.

Hello Rock Band thread. It's been awhile. I still have Orange Harrison on my friends list, and I weep when I look at his scores compared to my awful attempts.

But I have access to an Xbone now. And a friend generously gave me a spare copy of RB4, and a legacy adapter. So FoxBoxen is back with her bb Hofner, hell yeah. Are there any goon crews needing someone? I'm part of some rando crew, that somehow at least got me to silver or gold the past two seasons after I'd at least started rivals.

Is DancinBrud still active? I feel like maybe not? Sorry if I’m mistaken. I think that’s the only member of the crew that we might be able to clear to make space. They cap it at ten players, which is kinda limiting. In any case welcome back to Rock Band!

I know my way around Hard at least. Despite playing (infrequently admittedly) since GH3 on the Wii. Man, if I could go back to that with the skill I have now, I wonder. Would the story mode be a challenge even?

But if I can get in goon cru, that'd be pretty nice. I feel I have some other goons friended as well.

Probably. Because the charts in that game were nonsense and the boss battles were garbage.

Also iirc GH3 had extremely lenient timing for hitting notes, so even though the charts were full of HOPO nonsense you could usually keep up by flailing around

EDIT: At least, that was how I remember finally getting past Raining Blood on Expert :v:

So I guess we don't have any inactive peeps we can clear for space at the moment. Sorry. If anybody goes dark I'll come back for you. I think there was a secondary crew when Rivals first launched, but we may have consolidated all the still-active goons down to my one by now.

Greatest Hits/Smash Hits was the only GH/RB game where I could break out my bad Danzig impression on an actual Danzig song, so that's something even though I never liked GH's take on vocals.

That being said, has Beenox ever made anything good? They're working on the Crash Team Racing remake that's coming out this year, and if they gently caress that up I'll be very disappointed (all the early gameplay footage they've shown has run at 30 fps, so I'm fully prepared to be disappointed).

That's how it is on Vox this late in the season. When we're on pace the first few tiers on PS4, I'm competing with the top few on every actual leaderboard, and I can only do some asinine squeezing.

And, that's also bass LP charts for anyone masochistic enough to play ac/dc songs on bass when they're in the challenge!

I know I shouldn't expect much from Rock Band DLC at this point, but nearly everything they've released in the past couple of years has managed to be underwhelming even with those low expectations in mind. I guess this latest batch of tracks might still be fun on the guitar, bass or drums, but vocals... well, at least for me personally it'd be the opposite of fun trying to sing these.

Weirdos like me who exclusively play vocals on Rock Band are of course a very small niche within a niche audience so I don't expect Harmonix to suddenly start catering to me, but it's still kind of disappointing when yet another week of DLC goes by without anything I might even remotely care about. :reject:

I mean these are just RBN ports, easy way to get the people who like challenging guitar/drums tracks to buy DLC for low effort.

And the only stuff on RBN that sold was this stuff, anything left from there is likely gonna be from the buttrock or whatever-core genre of music and not ween or devin townsend or andy timmons or rodrigo y gabriela or the slip or of montreal or apples in stereo or reverend horton heat or sleater-kinney or new pornographers or :sigh:

how easy/difficult is it to get customs running on a 360 with rb3? i'm faced with a dilemma: i found my wired legacy adapter after thinking i'd lost it. i have all the hardware i need to buy a midi drum kit and use it with rb4, but i could probably subsidize most of my gear costs if i sold the wired legacy adapter and ended up sticking with rb3. the dlc downloaded for rb4 is specific to the xbone and that game, yes? so i'd have to find... some other means of getting some of those songs, i suppose, but then there's a whole new world of customs opened up to me so maybe it doesn't matter that much anymore.
on a related note: is anyone looking for a wired legacy adapter? :)

Dark_Swordmaster

So I tried playing drums recently on the stock RB4 set and it was hitting the blue pad about a quarter of my pedal hits.

It's a piece of poo poo that makes it impossible to enjoyably play drums at this point.

What's the best bang for buck replacement option or should I just finally call the series a wash and sell my game and all the accessories?

If they really have to release lovely RBN metal for nerds as RB4 DLC, they should at least release the Machinae Supremacy tracks from 2012. :pcgaming: I don't think those sold very well at all, though.

I'm not saying Machinae Supremacy is great or anything (aside from their old Commodore 64 remixes and some of the other early stuff) but Laser Speed Force and Hero were at least fun to sing with some nice harmonies and, unlike the first batch of Machinae Supremacy songs on RBN a couple of years earlier, don't have mind-numbingly terrible lyrics about stupid nerd poo poo. I wish they had released Winterstorm at some point because I'd have played the absolute gently caress out of that on pro keys.

I'll agree the rehashing of RBN stuff and the death of new instruments really puts a damper on my enthusiasm for this game :( Even if new tracks interest me, is there a point picking it up if my drums are about to fall apart and finding a replacement set costs as much as a starter ekit anyways?

God I miss the Devy stuff, and MC Frontalot, and Rev Heat. Also I'm a weird one. Socially like at cons, I sing. But solo, I guitar mostly. I'm realizing I'm improving though, which is good. I've dragged my rando crew up to at least Platinum.

Yeah, this is me too. There is generally at least one song worth buying for me every month or two still, and I'll typically cave on a few things I'm meh on to help out the crew, but sure would be nice to see some DLC I'm super excited for at least once a quarter or something.
