Agreed, when he started getting panelists that weren't just his writers that show got really interesting. IMO it'd have been better as an hour-long show.

Yeah. Because if they were more "progressive" they probably would have eventually be turned away by him as I was.

And by now he's just kind of an old, rich, complacent SoCal liberal. He was pushing more boundaries (for better or worse) 15+ years ago, but the democratic party has largely passed him by. Like many in his demographic, he's a lot less invested in economic equality and social justice stuff than cosmopolitan-style contempt for rural, religious conservatives.

But hey, I still throw it on as background noise while cleaning on a Saturday or Sunday morning out of habit. Meet the Press or Face the Nation or cable news certainly aren't any better.

I also enjoyed Jordan Klepper's show, although the premise wore a little thin before long.

Maher's show is available as a podcast. I enjoy it overall :colbert:

The thing that gets me is how all of this was organized and planned out in the open on boards like 8chan. Sure maybe they didn't lay out 'the_plan.txt' but these are all 'open' communities that any idiot can find and join. How in heck are they not completely infiltrated and loaded with CIA, Interpol, etc. keeping an eye on these nutters? I would hope a conspiracy with multiple people to commit mass murder, all organized on the internet would be picked up by someone. And if the CIA, etc. isn't actively monitoring this poo poo... time to start hiring some millenial agents.

edit: If DEA can completely take down darknet sites, shady research chemical vendors (remember Operation Web Tryp back in the 2000's?), etc. sites like 8chan should be nothing.

Right. The truth is that there's several times in someone's average day where they're just free roaming targets for any armed psycho that might come along. Doesn't take any thought really. Just enough of the right guns and ammo. Oh, and the complete lack of shame and human empathy it takes to straight up slaughter innocent people.

I'm not saying that the CIA, FBI ect ect don't care, but white christian terrorism is unofficially a lower priority than other kinds of terrorism. It's not official policy, there is no grand conspiracy, but its certain that some people in our government have no problem at all with what happened in NZ, and that poisons organizational culture even if its never spoken out loud.

They should at least make blood and bone marrow donations mandatory if saving lives is their real goal. It's a lot easier than being pregnant and giving birth, and people have tons of trouble getting bone marrow matches. Even children. They should think of the children and force people to donate bone marrow. But I have my doubts that will be the next step for some mysterious reasons I can't quite put my finger on.

Steam literally had no, i repeat no, mechanism to report a person committing self harm. This is extremely basic poo poo if you run a social media platform
