Sure let me make it real simple: you're trying to argue the US/NATO can't have done something bad and stupid because someone would have stopped them.

Got to hear a bunch of Trump supporters today on Fox News radio talk about how AOC sounds so dumb, she sounds like she's a child, just can't speak properly at all.

It's a good thing nobody has found a way to harness irony as a weapon because I'm pretty sure that one would destroy the entire galaxy.

I saw something that was talking about how unqualified AOC is to try to lead anything. :irony:

Its a family relationship. There's a lot of poo poo and other relationships tied up in it. I barely speak to her anymore and when some people die or walk away I probably never will speak to her. I'm not going to get into the details but severing her from my life entirely simply isn't a practical solution without a whole lot of drama and unnecessary anguish and potential health risk to people I love. So its not as simple as an internet meme would suggest, shockingly, and my ego isn't actually so pathetic that "shade" truly affects me.

From what I saw Fox News spent a significant part of its day today mocking Beto O'Rourke for moving his hands too much. They had an odd day ignoring Manafort, Stone, and Senate rebuke news.

Interesting. Do we know when that started? I know it doesn't really matter but I'm wondering if Fox picked up on Donnie's comments or if he was riffing off of their coverage.

I only saw it after Trump so my assumption is they were following his lead. But I don't know. It seemed like they were trying to ignore the Senate stuff and attacking the new Democractic candidate made sense but they seemed totally unprepared on who he was so went with "he moves his hands too much" and "he has too much energy" and "some people like him too much."

I think this is basically how the RW works. They're workshopping their line attack on Beto so we'll hear lots of random weird insults and attacks before they settle in on what the real problem with him is.

I agree, Gadafi shouldn't have murdered so many protestors that he caused a civil war. What's the relevance meant to be? Are you accusing Gadafi of being a US agent or something?

I think Tucker goes on vacation next week, and I actually kind of believe them when they say the vacation had been on the schedule before this poo poo dropped. If they wanted to push him off the air so he could lay low they would have started it on like Wednesday or something. They wouldn't hang his stupid rear end out there for an entire week and then compound the problem by then putting him on vacation. These people are assholes, but they're crafty assholes. This doesn't really match the pattern from previous being-completely-owned-induced vacations.

The reason Hannity mentioned the vacation is so it doesn't look to the audience like Fox is capitulating. They were trying to get out in front of it so it wouldn't look like Media Matters got another FNC host off the air.

He can't manage to stay in the spotlight anymore because competition for "rightwing hatemonger who says wild and crazy things" is too fierce these days for an old hand like Rush

Here's what the talk radio listenership looked like ~8 years ago:

And here's what it looks like now:

Rush's basically been stagnant at the top over that whole time, but granted 2011 was already after a number of large media market stations had dumped him off their schedules and forced him to lesser stations in those markets. His mid-2000s peak weekly cumulative listenership was somewhere between 20 and 25 million.

Remember though that the definition of fake news has always been "News that doesn't tell me what I want to hear". They specifically desire fake news, but since it's the news of their tribe it's the only news that's really real because it feels real to them.

True but that NPR segment I heard (that I still can't find) described the way this stuff spirals through bots, fake news, twitter and FB and then ultimately gets picked up by "real" news outlets like FOX and even CNN. Then some rear end in a top hat took it all seriously and shot up a Chuck E Cheese because he thought there were children in the basement being sold into sex rings and harvested for baby parts that needed saving and poo poo while Alex Jones' only punishment is being being able to whine about how he's not allowed on Twitter and Youtube.

"Fake News" indeed.

It's deeper than something as simple as a feedback loop and confirmation bias. It's relatively mainstream

I've really been loving that whenever Karl Rove is on TV he very actively insists on calling Beto "Robert Francis O'Rorke", to the point where he almost never uses 'he' in sentences and instead crams as many 'Robert Francis O'Rorke's in as he can. Like, only the genius mind of Karl Rove can take the true stance of 'it's real dumb that a rich white guy calls himself 'Beto' and straight up pretends to be hispanic and we all just kinda ignore that' and somehow still be the rear end in a top hat.
