The fake hotel stories saga was interesting. Guy gets semi-popular on SA during the era of GBS story-time threads by posting his ~wacky misadventures~ as the front desk of a hotel. As usual in the average story thread he's the coolest dude in the room, women wanna gently caress him and every night someone either poo poo themselves everywhere or a pimp beat up someone in the hotel and only HE could stop it. He eventually started his own personal story thread and by page 5 or so he was getting demolished by FYAD and GBS regulars. IIRC he was pretty much the last GBS Superstar of that type since his thread got hijacked so hard. He was annoying but I never found him near as annoying as that one posted who would take over every single "Tell your Worst Nerd Story" thread with fake stories about his MEGA HOT NERD WIFE and his LESBIAN HOT SEXY SUPER HOT BEST FRIEND and how they would clown the most stereotypical neckbeard every single week like a lovely sitcom.

Sounds like you're talking about Joey Vapes. I think he was even a mod for a while. I genuinely believe that at least some of the stories are true given that truth is stranger than fiction and all. But yeah, that was one gently caress of a saga though he did end up getting banned as he turned out to be a dick to the surprise of basically nobody.

Is there a current comic shop horror stories thread? Because reading these reminded me of the time there was a midnight pre-release of a new Magic set at the comic shop next door to where my band had just played a show. My gross, sweaty, drunk/high rear end thought it would be a good idea to enter after a decade away from the game. Somehow I won, despite loudly and drunkenly announcing to the others in my draft pool that I barely remember the rules and apologize in advance. 6 of the guys were cool, laughed and even gave me some pointers, but the 7th guy gave me a bunch of poo poo during our match about how I should really buy some of the beginner stuff before joining a tournament, and how I was bringing down the overall quality of the tournament because I didn't know what to draft, etc. Of course it was the same guy who gave me poo poo who cornered me outside of the store and badgered me to sell him the rares I had drafted.

Humper Monkey was probably the highpoint of those threads because even though they were super obviously fake the stories never veered into the embarrassing self insert fanfiction those threads would devolve into. Plus his ghost story thread is a classic thread. Thinking more on it I don't think 50 Foot Ant was the guy I was thinking of. I really hope someone can find the dude's name because he was by far the worst story-time offender because EVERY SINGLE story would have these humiliating diatribes about how his wife totally banged the lesbian best friend and he totally would join and yeah even though he played D&D he was a super cool dude unlike the fat nerd who had a tiny dick and no friends and we made fun of all the time and and and

I also remember the guy who "happened" to live in an apartment building with a pimp named Ghost that he somehow managed to befriend even though he was a pasty white boy. His stories were good and funny but he tried to tease stories "alright guys I'll tell you about when we played Mario Party with the pimp named Ghost next time!", "Next time I'll tell you about when Ghost took me out to the club and a rival pimp named Truck wanted to start a fight with me". Then have multiple posts talking about "how I can't tell you that yet but it totally happened guys" between stories. Eventually everyone got pissed and demanded he either give us the stories or gently caress off

Ahhh, yeah that's the guy. I enjoyed a lot of those stories, although I remember near the end some folks were accusing him of inventing them or at least embellishing them. and here's the thread, looks like Bruiser chanced his name to MoGurt e. oh, this is shitsucker of course, but I think Bruiser was a different guy. The main problem with 50FA's stories is how much he embellished the gently caress out of everything, downplaying and degrading the "villain" and playing up his self-insert so much that the stories all just kind of had the tone of Superman curb-stomping Gollum for four hours. Usually in the conclusion he would do something unbelievably morally lovely to the antagonist but pass it off as perfectly ok in the framing. It was just kind of weird and gross.
