I think the adults were sending adolescents, because there were some adults i saw with them in a troop, to check on the cat food situation in my backyard, because it was just tiny cute ones that would head in to see if I was out there guarding the food while the stray cats ate. I never had the courage to try to pet them, since raccoons are fast and I don't know raccoon politics, so maybe would do something wrong and get bitten. But they'd take leftover cat food off a spoon. Well, one would, because he/she was polite and/or smart. The other tried to take off with the spoon. I think they, the unsuccessful spoon thief, were probably the one that got all growlie over the uneaten kibble. (They were only growlie and snarlie with the other raccoon. Not any other species.) Oh! I just remembered that one of them was waiting for me to come out and feed the cats at one point and pretty much belly flopped into the cat food tray. It was very disappointed in me when I push it away with a broom cause the cats had dibs. Still, no growling and snarling though. Those two were very nice raccoons. They disappeared during mating season. Bored has a new favorite as of 21:10 on Feb 2, 2019 |

just me personally i would give feeding privelage to the native critters over stray cats seeing as here stray cats are huge problems for native bird and wildlife signed, someone who adopted a stray

Local raccoons are being sighted actively hunting and eating invasive iguanas pretty regularly now. I can only imagine what the increased protein intake is going to do to them over a few dozen generations.

I came home really drunk once and a gang of raccoons all stepped out of the shadows and blocked my walkway, I yelled at them and they held their ground and even started coming towards me. Circled around the whole block to come in the back way to avoid them... bullied by raccoons.

we had a shitload of raccoons in my old neighborhood and I'd come home late when it was dark and see just whole families of 'em waddling down the street with mom and dad in the lead and several little chonkers bringing up the rear. their eyes would reflect the headlights of my Bitchin Camaro and despite being annoyed by their trash-related habits I gotta say they were cute and I didn't hate them

I used to live in a very raccoon rich area. I could go on the fire escape at any summer night and expect to see the little guys rooting around in the backyard. It was pretty neat. I've since moved away and I kind of miss that now.

I would say,"oh no! They've figured out our technology!" but the one that moved into our attic in Kansas used a ladder to go up and down through the space a previous owner left unfinished when they converted the garage into a bedroom. Somebody had chewed a couple of inches under the doors that closed that room off from the outside. I came face-to-face with it one night when I opened the door. While it was ascending the ladder. We had a metal plate installed across the bottom of the door to keep that from happening again.

They tend to be a bit smaller in warmer climates, I think. The ones here are a lot closer to cat sized than the megachonks I’ve seen pictures of in the great white north.

I like to think that the raccoon is the one who wrote the description. It is copy/pasted from Google translate as Raccoon to English.
