McCain's friends acting indignant while doing shitall about the the skidmark in the white house is exactly what McCain would have wanted. They are honouring their friends memory by making a big fuss while bowing down and kissing the ring.

Unless Trump was the focus of the McCain funeral he was going to do something like this. I'd almost want to see the version where they did spend a large portion of the funeral talking about him instead, and Trump says that's still not enough.

A very cool legal ruling today that likely doesn't mean much by itself, but that hopefully will move the needle a bit more towards consideration of climate change being an important factor in governmental decision making. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/mar/20/judge-halts-drilling-climate-change-trump-administration quote:In the first significant check on the Trump administration’s “energy-first” agenda, a US judge has temporarily halted hundreds of drilling projects for failing to take climate change into account. With the recent quote from Andrew Wheeler about how climate change is less important than clean drinking water since climate change's consequences are 50-75 years in the future, it's nice to have some good news.

From a layman's standpoint acute = severe. Googling it, it seems like "acute pain" means severe pain that lasts 3 to 6 months and beyond that point it's chronic. 3-6 months is is way longer than a week. So, no, acute pain and chronic pain aren't the same but does she have any studies that back up "acute pain" subscriptions being the primary route of abuse for opioid addicts? Seems to me that going with acute over chronic means you'd be out of a subscription in a few months. There were several very negative responses from doctors, including oncologists referring to chronic pain patients, that took her tweet the same way so you can shove your pedantry up your rear end.

Gillebrand's bill is absolute trash and anyone who has worked in healthcare will tell you the same. here's a really good bill on the subject. https://twitter.com/abgutman/status/1108102824792129537 To give you a personal anecdote, I worked in an acute rehab facility. We didn't have just serious bone breaks or whatever, but traumatic brain injuries where you literally have a countdown on how much you'll improve. For example, if you have a bad enough stroke, however much you improve in about 6 weeks is how much you're going to improve. This means as much therapy as they can handle in the time frame. Lots of patients will be in all kinds of weird pain, and many respond well to opioids, especially for breakthrough management. 7 days and you're not even out of the ICU. Even just more obviously, say you've got a broken femur and you're laid up with an external fixation. That thing isn't even off before you run out of your prescription. Good luck with therapy. Hope you're sensitive to NSAIDs.

Last time all it took was the threat of court packing for The Court to change its behavior re: the New Deal and look what Beer says right here you see it's not that bad." Are candidates talking about SC term limits too? It seems that would be a less drastic step that would result in a Court that more reflects the times, and less likely to result in retaliatory packing when the DNC runs a centrist and the youngsters lose interest in the midterms and the GOP takes it all back again.
