TulliusCicero posted:Ours literally had a guy fire blanks outside and not tell anyone before they did it I forget if I mentioned this here before, but at work there's a VR/AR development push. One guy's bright idea was a full motion VR Active Shooter training module where you'd have to either hide from, run from, or fight an active shooter in a full render of our office. We had to spend significant effort to talk him out of that being our first test project. Then he decided that the problem was that it was VR and wanted to switch it to an AR module on the Hololens (which actively maps your surroundings and can built a "map" of it in real time) where you'd wear it around and after it mapped enough of the office would procedurally generate a shooter for you to run from.

We might have to cut some things from the classroom BUT the teachers who remain will know just how to kneel and be shot in the head. BTW if this goes on at my school the dudes in the execution room are going to get beat down with a chair during a "surprise attack." "You said this was supposed to be realistic, and realistically I was fighting for my life. So EN GARDE! I saw my chance and I took it. Those men were going to execute me. And they'll be okay. All that "good guy with a gun" bullshit is movie nonsense. When the dude blasted that concert in Las Vegas from like 100 meters up, in the dark, with a loving machine gun (WHOOPS I GUESS I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT GUNS BECAUSE A REAL MACHINE GUN REQUIRES AN FFL AND AND AND BLAH BLAH DEATH CULT) I had people tell me that if someone in the crowd had just had a Glock 36 they could have saved everyone. These are mostly people who have never actually fired a gun and don't realize the level of skill it takes to actually hit something at a distance with it. They've watched so loving many movies they think that having the gun in hand and the desire to kill with it makes it automatically happen. They literally believe Roland the Gunslinger, "I do not kill with my hand, I kill with my heart." Of course they ignore the fact that Roland has trained for so loving long with those guns that he's really saying that the physical action of killing is no longer in doubt and so the only decision whether someone lives or dies is made in his heart. This doesn't happen in the real world outside of special forces and secret service and other dudes who put 50,000 rounds a year through their guns in practice. Uncle Ant Bed from Crestview, who bought his gun twelve years ago and has never shot it and owns one box of ammo so loving old it's got green moss growing on it, is not going to clear leather and take out a mass shooter. But boy oh boy does he ever like to fantasize about it. Then he could be on THE FOX NEWS and tell everyone about how much he hates nig-SOCIALISTS and Thelma from down at the Waffle House will finally say yes! BTW apropos of nothing I got to shoot with some secret service guys one time and they really were like loving Terminators, just computer-controlled machines that put the shot wherever they wanted it to go. I asked one of them how to get that good and he said, "About a thousand rounds a week, every week, for almost fifteen years."
