I dunno maybe the Tories will collapse in the next week and the EU will take pity on your fair isle. When there’s no coherent plan who knows what could happen. I’m betting on May’s deal or no deal myself

Opferwurst posted:Best outcome at this point seems to be booting May, new elections and then a new government that can negotiate an EFTA type arrangement. De facto the UK would remain in the EU, but it would be enough of a symbolic change that the Gammons might be satisfied now that they saw what the alternatives are (also, UK loses its rebate and all democratic representation lol) I think that's what the EU is trying to achieve here I thought the EU rejected that because if the UK gets to leave but still have full access to the European market, why wouldn't Italy, Greece, Spain, and possibly others do the same thing? All of the upside with none of the downside.

They have to comply with almost all EU laws and regulations but get no voice in any of its the numerous institutions. Plus, they have to pay more into the budget cause they lose their negotiated special ~*~*~British farming privileges~*~*~ Grexit& Spandex are mostly about leaving the Eurozone, which is a different thing from the EU. There is really no advantage to stay outside the EU, but still participate in the single market. Norway& Switzerland are more of a historical artefact

If the EU means 3d-printed Macrons, Cleggs and Merkels endlessly having an excuse and a legal framework to push domestic neoliberalism then honestly the EU has to change or end, it's enforcing a pain machine.

So May didn't need an act of Parliament in order to delay brexit? I thought she did. Edit: nevermind I misunderstood. I thought she needed parliament's approval to go ask for it, not to get it after they already offered it.
