Not really? I like what little of Marx's ideas I've read but I don't give a poo poo about the man himself. He's dead, he was probably a prick, but the ideas that carry his name stand on their own and are ample motivation. They would be just as motivating if someone else wrote them or if they had another name to them or even if you call them socialism and ignore the personal name.

Like you don't need celebrity, the whole concept is just bad. It's definitely something that should go because looking at the world and society through the lens of a bunch of individual weirdos on the telly is just not a way to do it. It's not a model around which you can do anything. It's the kind of thing that centrist dorks want when they just want the biggest best celebrity to get behind and if you're wanting a left wing world, it's proabably a really good idea to just discredit the entire notion of celebrity. Don't give it credence, don't encourage people to like famous people or see the world through the lens of famous people. Pursue routes and solutions that completely ignore individuals wherever possible.

I literally can't think of any celebrity I actually like being famous.

The institution of boozing and getting mad about politics with your mates is good. An institution whereby we all elect the supreme mate to go on the telly and get mad about poltiics for us, is less good. Because by the nature of their elevated position the supreme mate is not gonna be as mad about the right stuff as we plebs are. Better a thousand boozers and groups of mates all getting mad concurrently.

It's such a good loving film. Also something few people ever notice because it goes by so quickly, in the helicopter scene, the T1000 is shown to have grown an extra hand so it can pilot the copter while still aiming its gun.

When I think about groups that stopped existing by choice, like the Shakers, I don't feel any sorrow, only relief.

You see no Shaker Holocaust, no Shaker terrorists, no Shaker hate crimes, only Shaker furniture.

Maybe the real racism is convincing groups that they need to keep existing for some bizarre sort of greater good.

I've probably seen T2 about 300 times, ever since the You Could Be Mine video blew my mind as an 8yo GnR fan. Try to suggest a better movie - that's right, you can't, shut the gently caress up.

realise: my isse with your argumentation here is that it's basically the same thought process that tories go through to justify jeremy corbyn being antisemittic megastalin - twisting statements and guilt by association over taking the bloke's own words as a reasoanble representation of his opinions. send your concerns to attenborough, you might get a response or he might disown the organisation idk, but simply being involved with an organisation that, through a project not necessarily predictable from its core enterprise, has done somthing bad must not confer that badness onto an individual

so if corbyn attended a palestine solidarity conference or something and he shared a stage with someone who belongs to an organisation which denies the holocaust, this does not make him an antisemite

The first one...I think? It kinda blurs together in a dull 60fps fog of waiting for them to get to scenes that actually happened in the Hobbit story. And I remember that sudden camera quality shift to be jarring as hell. I don't know what they were thinking with those movies.*
