They can unbridge, but a lot of them may fall too far from known trails and never make their way back to the colony. So they'll die. But that's basically exactly what worker ants are for.

Legionary ants are awesome They are nomads and their temporary nests are structures made by worker ants with their own bodies, called "bivouacs". Pretty much like that bridge, but bigger, and with rooms and tunnels Nightmarish stuff, but also amazing

Every I want to know is how they got in that configuration in the first place. Did they form a bridge along the ceiling and then drop down once they were connected?
