I think the reasoning is that heterosexual couples have this much sex, lesbians have no sex, gays have copious amounts of flabbergasting sex at all times and very risquély, leading to elevated risk of blood borne contagion, which is bad. Only take blood from certified butt uggos is what I'm saying.
