I understand why they have to change the names but they're really getting bad with these. Sex Pistols should've been renamed Hex Pistols, Notorius B.I.G. could have and should have been renamed literally anything but Notorious Chase, etc. We're a far cry from the days of Filthy Acts at a Reasonable Price.

For whatever reason the part 5 stands in particular get the really lame names. Part 4's mostly did references or synonyms (though I still have no idea what Show Off meant) and part 6 gave us Flaccid Pancake, why did they drop the ball in such an arbitrary place I wonder.

As far as I can tell, Bandai Namco gets to set the names because the video games (usually) get localized first. They use a third party localization company that in turn uses contractors that tend to be different from project to protect. So sometimes they'll be good and sometimes...not. Once the name is approved it seems to be pretty much locked down for good. I've actually been considering aggressively pursuing those translation gigs just so I can set the names myself, haha.

Occasionally the names are different from the Bamco ones. For example they used Pole Jam instead of Opal Jam, and... actually, I can’t think of any others.

the more i think about diavolo's guard squad the more out of place squalo and tiziano seem. like they were just two relatively normal guys who managed to parlay their personal relationship into a working relationship or vice versa
