Long range aviation regiments bombed German civilian targets by night throughout the war. It wasn’t a big volume compared to the western allies, but they still regularly put bombers over German and occupied cities.

But they also used a lot of tacair in various urban battles, especially königsberg and Berlin, and that was pretty bad for local civilians.

If you have reliable, consistent reports of Soviet, American or British pilots strafing crowds of civilians in packed roads then feel free to post them.

Because that was one of the Luftwaffes hobbies.

You don't have to deliberately strafe refugee columns for your tactical air operations to have a major impact on civilians, especially in heavy urban combat.

Yeah, bombing cities.

US and allied forces strafed lots of civs riding horses and driving cars in '44 and '45 but that's the nature of war. So why bother starting a pissing contest?

Say hi to my battleships.

The cruisers also do some sparring.

We bag three attacking planes.

On the next wave we trade planes.

They continue to hit Magwe.

There are a lot more raids than this, but they continue to hit the already ruined runway rather than planes, so I'm not reporting them.

Their using a LOT of planes though.

I'm going to send the carriers out again – they've had a week of shore leave at Rabaul, and the pilots will be getting lazy.

I’ve read a paper a couple of months ago that the very first “shot” was Luftwaffe bombing the poo poo out of some village. Guess they simply itched for some Guernica style fun.

That was actually a fairly recent discovery, only established a few years ago. Schleswig-Holstein was the opening shot of the war for decades and remains infamously iconic in that sense, but it was beaten by the bombing of Wieluń by about five minutes.

I need to clear this guy before I can send out the carriers.

There we go!

Well done lads!

We have another killing spree at Guam.

You know the drill here, just assume all destroyed on ground losses come from here.

So Grey i know that you are several turns ahead of us and that this is probably a moot point by then, but is there a reason why you don't spread those grounded planes out across several of your nearby bases using, oh i don't know...the railroad that links them all together?

Even if it dosn't help you get any of them in the air, it will force the allies to waste alot longer on bombing each individual squadron to bits instead of grinding them all down at the same time.

But there is a railroad right there?

Admittedly i've only ever played the game as the allies, but i usually make heavy use of rail transporting for planes that need to move around in India, Australia, Java and the US coast so i don't see why the same wouldn't be possible for you to do here.
