Revisiting Soused today bc of Scott Walker's recent death and my imminent one in the Tennessee cave

I’m sad that Soused is one of the only albums I’ve ever heard that I found intensely unlistenable. I love the themes and concepts etc but man that album bounced off me hard. I’ll have to give it another chance but I don’t know if that will help.

when i saw Yob last summer Mike was swigging from a liquor bottle but he then walked on stage and blew my loving mind with how good a guitar player is so it definitely didn't affect his ability to play

Kind of disappointed with that set being only 45 minutes and not having any Magus songs on it (though I saw several of those tracks live long before the Summer of Thou had even been announced). The two songs from Heathen and Smoke Pigs were insane though. If Margaritaville wasn’t on loving Navy Pier I’d go to the Emma Ruth Rundle collab in a heartbeat.

I did not know that song going in and now it’s like a top 5 Thou song for me.

Both of my Thou live experiences were weird as hell. When they opened for Warning I was hoping to hear some stuff from Heathen. Instead we got all awesome songs I was unfamiliar with, because they turned out to be from the then-unannounced Magus. This time I was stoked to hear stuff from Magus, which was my AOTY, but they didn’t play any of it and instead played two awesome songs from Heathen.

Just happened to check out the St. Vitus newsletter, found out Thou is playing there this Sunday, and a matinee at that so I can actually handle work the next day! $15 tickets as well, so awesome all around.

They're playing with Emma Ruth Rundle. Not really sure the setup, tickets say it's one band though so I assume she'll be singing? Other band is Winkie, who I think pops up at St. Vitus a bit, but not familiar with them either.

Last time I saw Thou was in someone's garage in CT, that was a loving incredible and sweaty experience, so psyched about this.

They played in Chicago with her opening at Subterranean and then the next day they did a collaborative set at Margaritaville. Sounds like you’re getting the latter?
