There's that move people do where you honk at them for, say, sitting too long at a green or cutting you off or whatever and they respond by like, driving away as fast as possible to...get back at you for honking at them? I don't know. Anyway, that gif is how I wish all of those instances ended up.

All of the Toyota "unintended acceleration" incidents were driver error and most of the "victims" were over 70

FuturePastNow posted:All of the Toyota "unintended acceleration" incidents were driver error and most of the "victims" were over 70 A couple were probably stuck floor mats, but they never found a car that couldn't be put into neutral, stopped with the brakes (except when dummies kept using them to slow to the speed limit and cooked them), or shut off. The shutting off wasn't obvious for everyone in a push-button start car because they needed to hold the button down, but the (off-duty) state trooper who died in the Lexus should have known how to shift into neutral.

Speaking of Primitive Technology: do enable subtitles so you can read his explanation of what he's doing. I found that out by accident recently I mean, you watch enough of his videos and you'll figure it out fairly quickly. But every so often I'll watch him do things without a clue of what he's trying to accomplish.

Locking fire escapes should be automatic attempted murder charge with the blame placed as high up the chain of command as possible. Services guy installs a lock on the panic-hardware equipped designated fire exit for an area, he installed it because the shift manager got signed off on the order. The shift manager gave the order because his boss told him security was complaining people were popping out the door for smoke breaks when they're supposed to use the main doors. The shift manager finds an email from the local VP complaining about this issue and telling him to lock the door. VP says he did it because he knows the CEO came by the site recently and got upset about all the cig butts along the side path, but the CEO never specifically said how to handle it. VP is put in prison, corporation that owns the facility is also given a large fine based not a flat amount but a percentage of the facility's yearly income.

This is an awful idea, because there are easy ways for bean counters to make it look like profit is coming from wherever they want. If you implemented this, risk-averse companies would just reshuffle the numbers so that the profits came out of safe sites, and the ones with risks like these were constantly "in the red" on paper. Look up Hollywood accounting.

Just generally something more than "The fine for this extremely serious crime that killed 20 workers and blew up a neighbourhood is... let's see, $24,000, the fine was set to go up to $28,000 in 2010 but the industry spent 10 million lobbying against it"
