I’m pretty sure Steamed Hams is the first time I recognized or caught The Simpsons referencing a real place I’d been before. It was a deeply grounding moment.

I had the Dankmus album playing in the car and some random walking by yelled "Steamed Hams!" at me and shot me a thumbs up. My daughter loves the album except for the "Snrub" song as it terrifies her.

I grew up in Syracuse, and when I moved to near the PA border (Binghamton area) I got dirty looks for calling it Upstate ("We're in the Southern Tier!  "). My brother, who moved to NYC, came up to visit and called us all Upstate as well.That's my upstate story
