i'd caveat this by saying that if there's a global economic meltdown (caused by, i dunno, a massive and sudden contraction of one of the world's largest economies) then trump is unlikely to be re-elected

but if we don't fix the structural issues then the next trump 8 years down the line is gonna be reallllll loving bad

They appear to have shot their shot and missed. They might perk up if there are euro elections or some such, but short/medium term, they did not meaningfully move either main party's position, and they didn't score any more breakaways.

Although given that both parties have about fifteen different factions and twenty positions between them, it's kinda hard to tell.
